Female Midlife Crisis Tarot

“Turn your midlife crisis to your own advantage by making it a time for renewal of your body and mind, rather than stand by helplessly and watch them decline.” Jane E. Brody Yesterday, I came across a totally fabulous post by the Tarot Lady, titled Tarot To The Rescue: Aging Gracefully, where she uses the Tarot as a tool for taking action rather than standing by helplessly. My kinda lady and my kinda tool! I can identify! Things are slowly making their way south. Fine lines are insisting that their true calling is to turn into wrinkles rather than remaining fine lines. The skin on my neck is not so firm any more and I find myself checking the skin under my chin for overhang once or twice a week, thinking I’m quite lucky so far. My tweezers are becoming my best friend (I panic when I can’t find them!) and the mirror is my worst enemy, or it’s a close tie between my mirror and non-candlelight lighting. My stomach used to be flat as a board and after giving birth twice in my mid 20’s I snapped back into shape in no time. I did my dance teaching degree in my late twenties and my childless fellow classmates couldn’t believe how tiny my waist was. Now I have to face the fact that I have the body of a middle-aged woman complete with the rounded belly, varicose veins and cellulite. Ugh. Is it even possible to love oneself at this stage? Yes! Now is the time when what is inside me has a chance to shine. I can take my accumulated wisdom and understanding of life and myself and become what I wish to be: A light in the world. But first I should address those ‘in your face’ questions about getting older that Theresa Reed a.k.a. the Tarot Lady asks, because if I sweep them under the carpet they’ll be back to haunt me in one way or another. What do you need to face about getting older? What is your inner dialogue at this time? What can you appreciate about yourself right now? What are some actions you can take to accept yourself right now? I used the Baroque Bohemian Cats Tarot deck for this reading:  1. What I need to face: 5 of Wands (Saturn in Leo). I need to face that I do take pride in my appearance. I take after my maternal grandmother in this. I’m very human and love to be told I look younger than my years. I suppose I’ll be happy as I look and move like I’m younger than I really am. The sense of smugness that gives me kinda compensates for all the other stuff. 2. My inner dialogue at this point in time is very much centred in my connection with the angels so The Judgement card is...

Your 5 Personal Angels Tarot Spread

Your 5 Personal Angels Tarot Spread

One of the main reasons why I have been drawn to work with angels again lately is because of the feel-good factor.  Whenever I long for more serenity and less stress, I reach for the comforting presence of angels. And while on the topic of angels a friend recommended the Angel Almanac by Angela McGerr, a wonderful introduction for working with the angels every day of the year.  I felt deep joy as soon as I picked this book up and started reading it yesterday. My morning didn’t get off to a great start as I woke up feeling under the weather and in need of a break from work. I have been working very long hours the last few weeks and it finally caught up with me. However, after a day reading and trying a couple of angel meditations, I feel my batteries recharged and I also felt inspired to create a tarot spread based on the personal angels. According to Angela McGerr, we have 5 personal angels: Your personal guardian assigned before you were born. The angel ruling the weekday on which you were born. Your zodiac sign angel. The elemental angel corresponding to your zodiac sign. One of the Quinary angels. My personal guardian angel came to me about 8 years ago when I was resting on my bed one afternoon during my youngest daughter’s afternoon nap. He gave me his name but I don’t feel the need to share that name with you here. His essence is very much apart of my life’s purpose and although I have no problems sharing portions of my life on the blog, I have been made to understand by Spirit that the name of your personal guardian should be kept secret once you learn it. Once you have made the connection with your personal guardian, you can call his/her name (angels are genderless but may choose to take on a feminine or masculine form) any time you are in need of guidance. Angela McGerr suggests calling the name out loud three times to establish the connection between the divine and the mundane. McGerr’s angel correspondences are slightly different to the system I learned way back. She has Michael as the guardian of Wednesday and Raphael as the guardian of Sunday – I learned it the other way around. But this doesn’t bother me. The guardian of Monday (the day of the week I was born), Gabriel, remains the same in both systems. Stick to what works for you. Spirit will find a way of communicating truth – the form is irrelevant. My zodiac sign angel is Nadiel – the angel of Capricorn. The elemental angel corresponding to Capricorn is Ariel (Air and Earth) according to McGerr. This is also different to the system I learned where Uriel is Earth, Raphael is Air, Michael is Fire and Gabriel is Water (she has...

Pregnancy Tarot Spread

Pregnancy Tarot Spread

This spread covers all three trimesters of the pregnancy from the perspective of both mother and baby, as well as considering important changes to the relationship between mother and father during all three trimesters. 13 CARD PREGNANCY TAROT SPREAD Cards 1-3 FIRST TRIMESTER 1. Mother (health concerns, emotional state, spiritual state, process of bonding with baby) 2. Baby (health concerns, emotional state, spiritual state, process of bonding with baby) 3. Main themes/changes within the relationship between mother and father Cards 4-6 SECOND TRIMESTER 4. Mother 5. Baby 6. Main relationship themes/changes Cards 7-9 THIRD TRIMESTER 7. Mother 8. Baby 9. Main relationship themes/changes Cards 10-11 CONCEPTION These two cards are read together and will give you clues about the circumstances/timing surrounding conception and implantation. Look here for clues about multiples. I have seen these two cards zoom in on the conception date quite closely but remember that the cards do not always reveal timing. These two cards could be addressing health concerns or relationship issues just as well. Or there could be a theme emerging about why this soul has chosen to incarnate here and now (something you may well wish to do a separate reading on). Cards 12-13 BIRTH 12. Shows what kind of birth you will have. (Multiples can show up here too.) 13. Sex of the baby. Doing a pregnancy reading for yourself can be a bit tricky. The hormonal changes and the huge attachment to the outcome both play in. Have a friend help with the interpretation! If, after doing the Pregnancy Tarot Spread, you still feel you aren’t sure what the sex of the baby might be, you can pull another 10 cards. The first Ace that shows up among those 10 cards will tell: Wands and Swords for a boy and Pentacles and Cups for a girl. If there is no Ace in those 10 cards, you are simply not meant to know! Please keep in mind that a tarot reading is not intended replace professional medical advice. It is important to attend regular medical check-ups during a pregnancy. Deck Interview with The Sorcerers Tarot

Deck Interview with The Sorcerers Tarot

The Sorcerers Tarot has been eyeballing me from the book shelf for about two weeks now, wondering when I was going to get around to doing a deck interview with it… Having finally completed the Newsletter and cleared my backlog of email readings, I now have a bit of time on my hands. It would be a shame not to use it on interviewing my lovely new deck! I was first drawn to the Sorcerers Tarot by the card depicted on the front of the box – The Empress, looking so lovely and innocent in her white dress with the big red heart covering her chest.  The artwork is by Antonella Castelli who also created the beautiful Art Nouveau Tarot. I’m using the tarot deck interview spread I created to use for an interview with the Watcher Angel Tarot: 1. Describe yourself in three words 2. How would your best friend describe you using only three words 3. What gift do you bring? 4. What do you expect in return? 5. How can you help me serve? 6. Is there anything else you would like to tell me about yourself? I’m really enjoying getting to know the Sorcerers Tarot and I’m having a lot of fun with this tarot spread too. I think I’ll use it on some of my other decks too… Watch this space! 1. I, love, cats *giggles* (7 of Pentacles) 2. On a good day: mysterious, powerful, cat-lover. On a bad day: grumpy, old, witch (Death) 3. I take imaginary stuff like unicorns and turn it into practical stuff like money. (Knight of Pentacles) 4. I expect you to use all your skills and talents in your work with me or that unicorn will come tumbling down and you’ll end up looking after a unicorn with broken legs instead of making lots of money. (The World) 5. I can act as a sword of truth and give you a new perspective. (Ace of Swords) 6. Anything else…? Well yeah. I enjoy dancing skyclad in the forest with my two best friends who are also cat-loving witches. (3 of Cups) Brightest Blessings...

The WTF?! Tarot Spread

The WTF?! Tarot Spread

Whoa! Did they really do/say that?! You have no idea what just happened. All you know is that they hurt your feelings really badly with their words and/or actions. This Tarot spread will help you sort out what’s what and lets you know if the relationship is worth salvaging. Using the cards this way makes an excellent alternative to flying off the handle or damaging the relationship (and your own integrity) further by slagging your partner off to your best friend. Just excuse yourself, seek  out solitude and pour yourself a cup or glass of something.  It’s time to tune into your intuitive self for guidance from your Higher Self with the cards instead… And if you need to take a few deep breaths and count to ten first, by all means do so! Positional meanings 1. Shows you the underlying reason for what just happened. 2. Shows you how you really feel about this deep down. 3. Shows you how your partner really feels about this. 4. Shows you the worst approach to resolving this situation. 5. Shows you the best approach to healing the situation and addressing the root cause. 6. Shows you the likely outcome if you follow the advice given about the best approach. As always I am happy to answer questions about individual card meanings but please note that I do not have time to help interpret full spreads on here. It is helpful if you provide your own interpretation as far as you got. Bear in mind that I do not use reversals so please give me your take on reversed meanings when asking, as there are a myriad ways of interpreting reversals and pretty much everyone has their own take… blocked energy, delay, opposite meaning… etc. Cheers Love and Blessings...
