Judgement

All the 2’s in a Tarot deck can be indicative of the need to make a choice of some kind… or shifting to get back into balance/alignment. The Judgement card is the ‘Super 2’ in the deck. Any choice you need to make when this card shows up will be life-changing and it is often a choice that has the potential of bringing you back into alignment with your Life Purpose. The Angel depicted in this Major Arcana is Archangel Gabriel and the path on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life covered by this card is the path between Malkuth and Hod. XX Judgement vibrates to the numbers 2+0=2 and is therefore related to both II The High Priestess and XI Justice. This triumvirate of cards applies to anyone on a 2 Life Path (i.e. your day+month+year of birth adds up a number that reduces to the single digit 2). Astrologically, Judgement corresponds to the Element of Fire according to the Golden Dawn system of correspondences. Later, after the discovery of Pluto in 1930, it was assigned Pluto as the planetary correspondence. When using the Healing Key spread any additional cards should be drawn from the suit of Wands (Fire). There is a self-destructive element to the shadow side of this card. If it keeps occurring in readings for yourself, you may be called to look at a self-destructive pattern that continuously takes you out of alignment with your Higher Self. Ill dignified or reversed, it can also indicates secrets that have the power to alter the course of your destiny being kept from you.   Correspondences Element: Fire Planet: Pluto Archangel: Azrael (ruler of Pluto), Jeremiel (angel of Rebirth and Awakening), Gabriel (depicted) and Uriel (ruler of the Fire Element) Chakra: Crown chakra Colour: Black, white, dark red, scarlet, orange Crystal: Kyanite, moldavite, meteorite, labradorite, snowflake obsidian Metal: Tungsten, teutonium Body: The process of dying, purging, elimination Exercise: Any exercise aimed at total body transformation rather than wellbeing, such as bodybuilding where you destroy muscle tissue so that it can regenerate itself Stance: Lying prostrate Magickal Tool/Ingredient: Any ingredients with hidden properties and/or the ability to kill/resurrect Associated Major Arcana Cards (through numerology): The High Priestess and Justice Associated Minor Arcana Cards: N/A (though you may choose to pull one card from the suit of Wands for clarification when you do the Healing Key Spread).   Remedies to increase the energy of Judgement in your life You can make a tarot essence to harness and increase the energy of the Judgement card, using a card from the deck of your choice, along with any of the crystals above that you feel drawn to work with. There is plenty of information on the healing properties for each of the crystals available online Relax with the card under your pillow at the level of your crown chakra. Ask for guidance about your...

The Moon

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” ~ Frank Herbert   After exploring the outward-looking and future-oriented Star card, we now turn our eyes (or should that be third eye?) inward and to the mists of the past with the watery Piscean Moon card. The energy card also cares for and directs care toward others but more at the level of emotions. It’s a card of compassion, selfless love and courage to face our deepest fears… the fears that run so deep that we spend most of our lives being in denial about them. The following quote by John Lennon is another good fit for this card. “There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.” ~ John Lennon The push and pull between love and fear is explored ‘in extremis’ in the Moon card space because it covers the subconscious as well as what has already surfaced into waking awareness. What you dream of falls under the auspice of this card and especially dreams that help you understand your own emotions and relationships. An example of such dreams are dreams about snowy landscapes that are common right before a break-up. Snow symbolises frozen emotions. Relationships have to either evolve or die… Another example would be dreaming of a tsunami around the point you fall in love with someone because you fear being overwhelmed by your emotions. On a Chakra level, the Moon corresponds with the Third Eye and could indicate psychic ability or development of talents in this area as well as dreamwork. You can meditate with the Moon card for a while before going to sleep in order to better connect with messages from the subconscious. Too much of the energy of the Moon can make us confused or dazed. It’s a card of altered consciousness, both natural and drug-induced. On the most mundane level, it can simply mean drunkenness. In relationships, when the Moon card comes up, a need for forgiveness as well as clarity can be indicated. If things are polarised and you can’t seem to find middle...

The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man

When the Hanged Man shows up we find ourselves in a position with no viable options for moving forward in the world. It is a time of waiting, of being in limbo… The focus is on the inner and subconscious realms, such as when we are dreaming or find our minds wandering during an unusually boring history lesson. There are parallels between this archetype and Odin who hung on the World Tree ‘nine long nights’ in order to retrieve the wisdom of the Runes from the realms of the subconscious. The number 9 is a metaphor for spiritual enlightenment and completion. The XII Hanged Man vibrates to the numbers 1+2=3 and is therefore related to both III The Empress and XXI The World. This triumvirate of cards applies to anyone on a Three Life Path (i.e. your day+month+year of birth adds up a number that reduces to the single digit 3). The Hanged Man corresponds astrologically to Neptune but in the Golden Dawn system of correspondences, which leaves out latecomers (Neptune, Uranus and Pluto) among the Planets, this card is assigned the Element of Water. For the sake of simplicity we will be sticking with Water when this card shows up in the Healing Key spread. Correspondences Element: Water Planet: Neptune Archangel: Gabriel and Asariel Chakra: Crown chakra Colour: White, violet, purple, sea green, blue, silver Crystal: Amethyst, lepidolite, coral, aquamarine Metal: Tin Body: Hydration, sleep Exercise: N/A deep relaxation and traction apply instead Stance: Headstand, shoulder stand, resting with legs up against the wall Magickal Tool/Ingredient: Trident, crystal ball, valerian (induces sleep and relaxation), a conch Associated Major Arcana Cards (through numerology): The Empress and The World Associated Minor Arcana Cards: N/A (though you may choose to pull one card from the suit of Cups for clarification when you do the Healing Key Spread). Remedies to increase the energy of the Hanged Man in your life You can make a tarot essence to harness and increase the energy of the The Hanged Man, using a card from the deck of your choice, along with any of the crystals above that you feel drawn to work with. There is plenty of information on the healing properties for each of the crystals available online Relax with the card under your pillow at the level of your crown chakra. Strive to be as receptive and ‘Yin’ as possible Keep a dream journal Ask yourself if action is really necessary or if the situation you are facing may resolve itself if you just relax Allow your intuition to guide you Wait patiently for an answer to surface – be OK with not knowing for now To counteract or balance the influence of the Hanged Man, you simply need to take action – pretty much any action will do. If The Hanged Man shows up in the negative position of the Healing Key...

The Hermit

The Hermit

The Hermit (Virgo) corresponds to the Third Eye. The Hermit archetype helps us connect with our inner wisdom through life reviews and acknowledging the lessons of the past. The Hermit then shows us how to shine our light of deep understanding in the world as guides, counsellors and teachers. As you may well have guessed this is also a card of being alone and isolated. The isolation can be self-imposed but this is not always the case. The energetic focus of the Hermit card is inner. Perspective is gained through careful analysis of past events. Withdrawal is necessary for this and sometimes we deeply desire to ‘hermit away’ to catch up with ourselves. This is a deep human need that must be acknowledged, especially in this day and age when we are expected to be available 24/7 due to technological advances. In the Zodiac, this card connects with the energies of 6th House – the House of Virgo. Virgoan energies are concerned with service, employment, purity, diligence, details, health matters, fitness, diet, detoxification, digestion, assimilation, stress coping mechanisms, the healing process and ideas about rejection. Too much mental focus on these energies generates a lot of anxiety and hypochondria is very much associated with The Hermit. The highest expression of The Hermit is found in the form of the Teacher. This is the stage we reach on our journey when we have the courage to face our whole inner world and all its worries with compassion and a resolution to heal all that needs to be healed as soon as it comes up rather than to suppress it. We then become a soothing influence in the lives of others and are able to help them without the burden of a saviour complex – just one human having gone through a tough time helping another still struggling, aware that there’s no telling who will be in need of a helping hand next. Correspondences Element: Earth Zodiac Sign: Virgo Archangel: Mercury and Metatron Chakra: Third Eye Colour: Purple, indigo Crystal: Carnelian, amethyst, chevron amethyst, citrine, peridot, ametrine, aragonite, sodalite, dumortierite (for past life review), gaspeite Body: The abdomen, large and small intestine, lower liver lobes, pancreas, hands, nails and carpal bones in the hands, the umbilical cord – Virgo influences the reproductive system (barrenness is indicated) Exercise: Most forms of exercise as long as it is both regular and moderate. Having/designing a routine and setting achievable goals. Recording progress. Bhastrika Pranayama. Stance: Shoulder stand Magickal Tool/Ingredient: Owl feathers, flail Associated Major Arcana Cards (through numerology): The Moon Associated Minor Arcana Cards: All cards associated with Virgo 8 of Disks (Sun in Virgo). Create order and routines for yourself. Chaotic impulses and influences are detrimental. Healing comes through diligently working on your health and fitness goals. 9 of Disks (Venus in Virgo). Healing comes through pampering yourself and making sure your physical...

Strength

Strength

Strength (Leo) corresponds to the Heart Chakra. The main meaning of this card is the triumph of loving kindness and gentle confidence over the drives and quirks of the ego. Although Strength is a card of strength and emotional maturity, it also has a childlike, sunny and playful quality. It is a card of great vitality, passion, generosity and creativity. Strength trusts that she is in the spotlight for a reason. She is fabulous and she knows it. The positive aspect of strength signifies healthy self-love. The negative aspect of Strength can signify arrogance and selfishness, as well as an inability to integrate lower drives (often through an inability to accept these aspects of self). In the Zodiac, this card connects with the energies of 5th House – the House of Leo. This house tells us a lot about person’s sexual as well as creative expression and budding romance as well as children/conception is often found here in a Zodiac Tarot reading. Without this energy in our lives, we are pretty miserable. There are many ways to bring the energy of the Strength card in and the quickest way to do it is probably to reconnect with what we loved doing when we were young. This is a card of both Solar magick and Feminine mysteries. Corresponding to the Heart Chakra, it is a wonderful Healing Key which can and should be used in many healing rituals. Correspondences Element: Fire Zodiac Sign: Leo Archangel: Michael and Raziel Chakra: Heart Colour: Gold Crystal: Ruby, red goldstone, tree jasper, tiger’s eye, rose quartz, golden topaz Body: Heart, the spinal cord, the 12 Thoracic vertebrae, the back, the forearm, the spleen, the metabolism of the liver, the pulmonary arteries Exercise: Any type of exercise which requires good posture or is performed aerobically outdoors (in the sunshine) Stance: Yoga Fish Pose Magickal Tool/Ingredient: Rose petals Associated Major Arcana Cards (through numerology): The Star Associated Minor Arcana Cards: All cards associated with Leo 5 of Wands (Saturn in Leo). Healing through pushing through self-imposed limitations and competing against oneself by setting achievable goals and targets. Rewarding self is important. Joyful competition with others may also promote healing and growth… but only if it truly is joyful. 6 of Wands (Jupiter in Leo). Healing through feeling the fear and doing it anyway. Your self-confidence can only grow if you push yourself outside your comfort zone and learn to take your rightful place in the spotlight. 7 of Wands (Mars in Leo). Healing by preparing for battle. Choose your battles wisely and call on divine protection. Never let the ego motivate you to fight because there can be no winner. Knight of Wands. Healing by letting your hair down and throwing caution to the wind. Smile, play and have fun! Remedies to increase the energy of the Strength card in your life You can make a...
