Tarot Noir Review and Deck Interview

I have had the Tarot Noir for a while now but haven’t gotten around to reviewing it yet. This is a deck with a very specific mood to it so I had to get in the mood to actually do the deck interview. The Tarot Noir was calling me last night and I believe now is a good time to look a bit closer at this gorgeous Tarot deck and book set created by Justine Ternel and Mattieu Hackière (artist).

The Major and Minor Arcana in Love and Relationship Tarot Readings

The Major and Minor Arcana in Love and Relationship Tarot Readings

Today I thought we would break the structure of the Tarot deck down in a way that gives you the bigger picture in love and relationship readings. It is always useful to look at the bigger picture first when analysing a Tarot spread, before delving into specific card/positional and combination meanings. You may already know that the Major Arcana deals primarily with the main spiritual lessons in life and that we all embark on the same Fool’s (or Hero’s) journey, meeting with the Major Arcana archetypes at various stages in life. This typically happens in a non-linear fashion, even though most of us obviously encounter the Mother/Father archetypes early on in life in shape of the Empress and Emperor etc. Here are some useful hints about the Majors to bear in mind when you first take in an overview of your love Tarot spread layout: * If there are many Majors (3 or more, or more than half in a larger spread), the relationship typically has a fated element which to some extent will limit your freedom of choice. To understand if this harks back to a past life connection/lesson, you want to look out specifically for the Karmic Cards. * When a Major Arcana card shows up in a position that describes a current or future lover, this is or will be a key player in your life. * A Major Arcana card as the outcome card makes the outcome of the relationship more fixed. However, choice about how you relate to this outcome is never taken from you and will determine how you progress from there. * A Major Arcana card signifying you means that you are learning an important life lesson through the relationship. * Understanding a bit about the anima/animus is very helpful and will give you instant insights about the meaning of the presence of the High Priestess and the Magician in a Tarot spread. In a nutshell it means a greater risk of projection of desired qualities onto your partner. * The Empress/Emperor often indicates parental issues contributing to an unhealthy pattern of relating. * The Lovers does not always mean the perfect relationship but can often indicate a choice situation and a lesson about not moving forward until your heart and mind are aligned. * Not even Majors should be read in isolation from other cards. They act as individual glyphs in a Tarot spread. Together with other Major or Minor Arcana glyphs, the sentence spelled by the cards can change drastically. As an example, The Sun with the 5 of Wands (Saturn in Leo) can indicate that ego battles are destroying your chances of relationship happiness rather than the sunny outcome you might expect. Now, let us shift our focus to the Minor Arcana… Looking at a spread containing many Minors, you will instantly get a picture of where the emphasis lies in any particular relationship...

Ceccoli Tarot Review and Deck Interview

Posted in Divination, Reviews | 11 comments

I’m going to open by stating that the Ceccoli Tarot by artist Nicoletta Ceccoli is NOT a deck for the beginner reader who is still learning traditional meanings and symbology, as I do not wish to waste anybody’s time. It is a beautiful and surreal modern deck that is suited to the experienced reader who wishes a bit of whimsy to crack open deeper intuitive/imaginative layers. Like all Lo Scarabeo Tarot decks, the Ceccoli Tarot comes with a Little White Book with snippet card meanings in five languages: English, Italian, Spanish, French and German. Personally, I never found the LWB helpful but I understand some do. Thankfully, Lo Scarabeo have stopped cluttering the card borders up with card titles in four languages and replaced them with numbers and symbols. This works much better for intuitive readings! If you are a beginner and feel drawn to working with this deck in spite of my warning, I suggest you approach it the way you would an oracle deck and allow your imagination fly free. The reversible card backs represent the Fire Element Wands suit in this deck and have a Christmasy feel to them. 1. Who are you? 4 of Pentacles (Sun in Capricorn): I am Princess of the Surreal and I live in castle high above the clouds. 2. What is your strength? Ten of Wands (Saturn in Sagittarius): I can help you push onward on your journey when you feel drained, stuck and/or running out of creative juice… In my castle, you will always find new doors to open that will get the old cogs turning again! 3. What is your weakness? Death (Scorpio): Well… I was never any good at comforting people. I like to sleep through the actual process of transformation that I trigger in you. You’re on your own there… don’t come crying to me! It may seem harsh but it is for your own good and preps you for initiation. 4. What types of readings do you prefer? Seven of Swords (Moon in Aquarius): Problem-solving, cartography type readings – helping you map uncharted territory but definitely not holding your hand when you set out, 5. How do you challenge me? Queen of Swords (Libra): I like to poke you in the eye. Nothing is as it seems. Enter my castle and you will understand! Blessed be! ~ Lisa Frideborg...

Intuitive Two Choices Tarot Spread

Intuitive Two Choices Tarot Spread

Got a ‘two choices’ type question? This intuitive layout is the Tarot spread I use for tuning in and choosing the path that best aligns me with Higher Will. This post is best read after this general post about reading intuitively but feel free to continue reading if you are already used to reading the cards intuitively and without set positional meanings. Basically, you read this in three groups of three cards. The first three cards tell a story about your background and where you’re at now with regards to the choice you are facing. The second group of three Tarot cards shows you how things are likely to progress if you go down the path of choice A and the third group of three cards show you how things are likely to progress if you go down the path of choice B. The tenth and final card should be chosen from a Majors only deck and this is the card that tells you the real issue your Higher Self is facing behind the bleedingly obvious outer circumstances and your own indecision.     Blessed be! Lisa...

Magick Working Tarot Spread

Tarot Magick Spell Reading Chant Cards of power, cards of light Guide me true and guide me right May this working be correct and just Show me the truth in perfect trust! It is always a good idea to check the cards before you go ahead and cast a spell. The spread above will give you some clues if you should or shouldn’t, as well as what you can do to raise/channel energy and what the outcome might be. Before you start laying the cards out, you need to separate the cards into Majors and Minors. The reason is that for the first position you use a Major Arcana card and for the second position a Minor Arcana card. For the following three cards, you mix all 78 cards together before laying them out. It is very important to be grounded, centred and in state of relaxed receptive consciousness (alpha) when you do a reading like this. Begin by lighting a candle and reciting the spell at the top of the page slowly three times. Focus on relaxing more deeply each time you read the words. If shuffling the cards helps you relax too, by all means shuffle while you chant the spell. The Major Arcana card in position one basically tells you whether or not to go ahead… The Fool – yes and there is unlimited potential if you act in trust The Magician – yes and you need to put your skills to good use in the process The High Priestess – yes and you need to cast the spell by the light of the Moon The Empress – yes and you should cast the spell in Nature The Emperor – no, this needs a pragmatic, non-magickal solution The Hierophant – no, this needs a more conventional solution The Lovers – yes and think carefully about your words The Chariot – green light but be sure to leave your ego out of it Strength – yes and more energy will be available through sex magick The Hermit – no, you need to meditate some more on this first The Wheel of Fortune – yes, now is the right time to act and there is a lot of energy available Justice – yes, as long as there are no legal consequences The Hanged Man – no, there is a need for clarity or a new perspective on things first. forget about it for now Death – yes, deep transformation is possible now Temperance – go ahead but make sure that you don’t overreach. be very precise and don’t bite off more than you can chew The Devil – no, you are not in tune with the Highest Good for All The Tower – no, the Universe will throw spanners in the works The Star – yes absolutely, you are doing humanity a service The Moon – only if...
