Doreen Virtue in Legal Battle with Woman’s World?

Doreen Virtue in legal battle with Woman's World?

Yesterday, three different people contact me about Doreen Virtue. The first email concerned the image below. The added text on top of the calendar was already on there when it arrived in my inbox:

doreen virtue in legal battle with publishers?

The person who sent this to me was concerned that even though Doreen Virtue has told everyone that she has sworn off all New Age practices and teachings, she still has merchandise coming out that belies those statements. The 2019 calendar could have been produced and contracted before her conversion, I suppose. I don’t know what sort of contract she had with Hay House for calendars. One thing is for certain: ‘A year of inspiring affirmations’ and ‘Messages from your angels’ is 100% New Age. No ifs, no buts.

The second person who contacted me, wanted to let me know that Doreen Virtue is now back on Facebook with a profile that is not in her real name and where she only has fundamentalist Christians as friends. Yesterday, 12 of them were showing and ‘Reasons for Jesus’ Steven Bancarz and Melissa Dougherty (co-author of ‘From New Age to Christianity’) among them, of course. She hid her friend’s list shortly after I contacted a few of them to ask why Doreen is still profiting from the New Age.

Some of the other people on her friend’s list also seemed to be what can best be referred to as ‘Jesuspreneurs,’ i.e. gaining in some way financially from telling people that unless they convert and confess Jesus as their saviour, they are going to hell. Doreen has certainly ramped up her own hell fire preaching, as you can witness in her latest weekly video where she says that ‘Jesus mentions hell more times than he mentions heaven in the Bible.’ She asks, ‘Are you willing to gamble your eternal future?’ Some pretty hard sales tactics there from someone who is new to the faith and hasn’t studied theology.

Is she perhaps learning a business tip or two from her new Jesuspreneur posse on how to get her followers to start tithing? What sort of ministry is she going to register herself? We see her constantly endorsing Steven Bancarz’s ‘Reasons for Jesus’ but I would place a small bet on her soon starting her own ministry. Tax exempt income – Need I say more?

The third message I received was from a person who was concerned about Doreen Virtue’s weekly New Age columns in Woman’s World. She could for the life her not understand how these could keep coming out week after week, even though Doreen Virtue has told her new following that she in no way dabbles in the New Age any more. I agree that this is very odd. For the calanders which have may been planned a few years in advance, it is a bit more understandable… but for a column where Doreen answers questions from the readers on a weekly basis, it seems highly unlikely.

Having done some work for a couple of monthly publications myself, I know that six months between submission and publication is not unusual. That would still place Doreen well on the wrong side of her own timeline for the excuse of ‘I agreed to this before my conversion’ to hold up. It is still possible that she was contracted to do these weekly columns before her supposed conversion. However, how does she sit there and types out New Age advice, week after week if this is the kind of advice that she now considers ‘poision’ (her words about New Age publications) and something that endangers the souls of the readers Woman’s World?

Surely, she would just stop answering the reader questions and take the legal battle from there if her faith is real? As someone who has been a fundamentalist Christian herself in her youth, I can tell you straight up that I would rather have spent time in prison than doing what Doreen seems to be doing now. I was sincere about my misguided faith, at least.

So I decided to contact one of her new Jesuspreneur friends with the evidence to see what they would say about it. I sent him pictures of the calendar and the woman’s world column from this week to prove that Doreen Virtue is still profiting from the New Age.

Doreen Virtue in legal battle with Woman’s World?

His response typed out (with my own comments added) below if you can’t view it in the screenshot above:

Actually she’s going through a legal battle (emphasis mine) trying to get them to stop publishing her old material. She’s already left her publisher… I know her personally and your impression of the situation is one of the biggest issues she’s having to deal with. Constantly being attacked by her brethren (I didn’t tell him I was a Christian and he clearly didn’t check my profile before replying) as she grows closer to Christ and takes action to remove her old material. She cancelled her new age speaking event and everything. Look at the pictures of her they used it’s decades old!!! My advice is pray for your sister (nope, she ain’t no sister of mine), pray for her to remain strong as she gets attacked by both the new age community and now fellow believers. (Attacked? People questioning her double dealings is referred to as ‘attacks’?)

The fact that Woman’s World is using an old picture (not decades old though lol) doesn’t really prove anything. They could be using that because their reader demographic shows that the readers prefer the blonde, goddess New Age Doreen to the new emo version. Whether she wants these publications to come out or not, she is still cashing the royalties.  And either way, she owes it to the poor people she is now deceiving on a weekly basis with her demonic angelic agony aunt column to make some kind of statement about how she no longer believes in this and that she replied to their questions under duress (likely?)… or some such.

I’m not sure which New Age speaking event the young Jesuspreneur is referring to but it could be the Engelkongress in Stuttgart for 2 June, though (as you can see) she is still set to appear via video link.

doreen virtue appearing at the june 2018 engelkongress new age event

Is Doreen Virtue in a legal battle with Woman’s World over these weekly columns? Why would she rather not take the financial loss (or even go to jail) than keep deceiving people on a weekly basis? Why does it seem so hard for Doreen Virtue to stick to one script? Is she really the victim in all of this? Is she being ‘attacked’ when people question her double dealings? It would be very easy to set the record straight… so why won’t she?

It all seems very odd.

  1. I don’t understand why your post is so distasteful? I do not subscribe to New Age doctrine, but clearly you show a lack of understanding of the origins of your own practices. Where is the love of others? The people who agree with your reasoning seem to comment from a perspective of love of self, and feeling offended that others may not agree with your ideals, and then you label them as misguided or insane.

I do not know anything about Doreen Virtue, other than the articles found on the internet, but when you use words like “enslave”, Jesuspreneur, hell fire preaching etc, without a clear understanding of the message of the only true God that lived among men, then it speaks more about your character, than it does about the people you are trying to denigrate.

Do the words ‘whitewashed tombs’ and ‘brood of vipers’ ring a bell? Jesus didn’t hold back either when dealing with oppressive liars. I make no excuses for holding up a torch of truth.

    3. Matthew,
I do not understand why, when you admit not knowing anything about doreen except for a few articles you read on the internet, you had to write a clearly biased comment on this article. Before commenting anything, how about you went and did your own research on the matter. That would help you see and understand the points written in this article. From your comment, it speaks volumes about your own character that you belong to a set of bigots that have nothing better to do but sit and judge people without so much as making their own research first.

    4. I don’t quite understand why you would be reading an article on Doreen Virtue if you don’t know who she is or actually even be on a Tarot blog since you’re a follower of the one true God and that’s apparently forbidden.
Lisa is actually one of the most loving and selfless people I know,if Doreen had refunded the few people who requested it,not talked down others of different beliefs and let people know the safety of the animals there wouldn’t of been a problem.

    5. Actually, Lisa is showing a lot of love by helping people to use their discernment to understand the difference between spiritual practice and using other people’s need for leadership to exploit them for their own personal and financial gain.
Matthew 24: you cannot serve both God and money.
      Thank you Lisa!

    6. AMEN! Angels are not “new.” Affirmations are not “new.” Doreen has blessed and inspired many people. She has always promoted love and healing. Personally, I think we all should. I have been buying Woman’s World every week for at least 7 years. It’s my “go to” magazine. I love it, but after all of this, I may not be buying it anymore. Just because someone switches flavors does not make them a “bad” person or a fraud. If someone does the work, then they are entitled to payment.

Why would you stop reading Woman’s World H Baciuska? They have a perfectly good replacement in Kyle Gray, I understand. The problem with Doreen Virtue continuing to write for Woman’s World for over a year after her CONversion was that she was demonising this very type of work to her new Christian following. It must have been so tiring for her to try to keep her audiences separate, hoping that nobody would find out… Whether or not Doreen blessed people with her work in the past, she also caused a lot of pain and hurt. I do suspect she will have to face legal consequences for this as well. The fight for justices goes on

  2. It can’t just be a question of money, as there’s plenty of that to be made from both the New Age and the Christian markets. So, something happened to her. I just wish she’d be less two-faced about it. It really puts me off all her decks, which is a shame. After all, there were artists involved in those, as well as just DV.

Someone suggested rapid mental decline from an insufficient vegan diet. Others say her partner (they are not legally married, I have been reliably informed) is a negative influence in her life. It is pretty obvious that she is allowing Steven Bancarz to pretty much tell her what to believe. And yes, damn shame about all the artists involved. I just got rid of my final three Hay House decks today (Mind charity shop) and the final deck of hers I parted with was the Fairy Tarot… I haven’t used any of them since September last year anyway… I just couldn’t.

  3. Lisa, thank you for this post.

With each passing day, my “faith” in Doreen Virtue becomes even less non-existent.

After my personal Psychic Advisor, Roger Pratt, Emailed me about an article he found on Facebook (I have not used it since November, 2016, and truly, it is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my forty-eight years of life, thus far!), I was disappointed, and even planned on refraining from ever using her books and Card Decks, but I realized I was being extreme.

Now, I solely follow my Intuition on which of her products to use. “Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards” remains one of my personal favorite Goddess-themed Oracle Card Decks, and I three copies, so I plan on continuing to use it, as Divinely Guided.

It is a shame that Doreen Virtue has allowed herself to become enslaved in a hell of her own creation

How I was raised tells me it is neither nice nor kind to pity someone, but there is a part of me which does. She allowed fear to manipulate her, and now she has created so many problems for herself, and seems to be continuing to do just that.

I AM forever thankful for the works that Doreen Virtue produced that helped me connect more deeply with Goddesses, Archangels, and other Celestial Beings, but I know that looking to her as a Spiritual Teacher is not in the Cards for me!

    1. Post

You’re welcome, Robert and thank you for your comment. I don’t use any of her decks and almost none of my Hay House decks. They are all tainted for me. The only deck I can’t seem to let go of is the Psychic Tarot for the Heart Oracle which I like to use together with my Tarot cards for spookily accurate relationship readings.

She is not so much manipulated as she is manipulating. I can tell you that there is no need to pity her since the lies about her involvement in the New Age have been very calculated. She keeps speaking with a forked tongue. Her ‘mentor,’ Steven Bancarz props her up in these lies, which makes it pretty obvious that they are working together for financial gain.

    2. I agree completely Robert, I feel the same way as you! I am grateful and appreciative of her previous works, even though she is clearly INSANE and showing her truest colors more than ever before. I feel in a way that her card decks were her slivers of genuine divine inspiration. She tapped into an industry and made huge success – it was a goldmine. Those are things I attribute to her following her joy, guidance and inner knowing and acting on it. To me, nothing is black and white and everyone goes through moments of HIGH inspiration and low energy moments – and just because she is clearly in the lowest of lows energy, doesn’t necessarily take away from her decks. Well, that’s just me anyway!! 🙂 Many of her books were “meh” at best, but to me her decks are great. Most of them anyway – there are quite a few fluffy filler decks. The Goddess deck, Ascended Masters deck, Archangel deck, Fairy deck… all my favs. And they will continue to be my favs. Now look at the mess of her life. This is what happens when you follow fear based, guilt based thinking. LOA at it’s finest if you ask me. Turned from the light, all she is attracting is darkness and decay. It IS SAD to me. But, she brought it on herself.

      1. Post

Now why does my mind go to the Butterfly Oracle when you talk about fluffy filler decks… Could it be because they used the exact same picture for THREE different cards?

    3. What pisses me off the most is that she, along with many Hay House authors, are big on “don’t have a victim mentality” but then after screwing us over they want to play that card? Hell to the no no no.

  4. “Jesuspreneur.” I will have to remember that term for future use (with proper attribution, of course). And on a side note, reminded me of the old Genesis song: “Jesus He Knows me.”

  5. Every time she cries poor, or boo hoo’s about being attacked, or uses the word ‘persecuted’ – I seethe. How her brain can even enter ‘poor me’ territory, boils my blood. I don’t get how anyone who can read the English language can defend her on any level. She is lying to EVERYONE! Well, it’s easy to see her new life features the word hell more than heaven, because there’s certainly no fluffy purple cushion waiting for her where she’s going.

I don’t spend time with the angels anymore, but boy I wonder what they think of all of this.

Great work as always. Nothing more important than keeping the truth alive involving this individual. Hopefully it will provide people with enough information to not be conned as we were.

    1. Post

Thanks Lilac – The truth matters! I still work with the angelic realm. Thankfully that begun long before I had the misfortune of crossing paths with Ms Virtue.

      1. Meh, ever since I did a reading in the very early days of my sensing something was just not right with her and her intentions, and they said they were a friend of hers… mind just can’t come back from that. My husband has all of my angel paraphernalia now, so it has worked out well that way. On some level, as the whole certification process happened when he was going through so much with his mother and sister’s cancers and all, what I was sharing with him really helped him at the time, so it was worth it on that level. If she wasn’t such a con artist, I could accept the dud certifications because of that fact alone, but her continual lies and manipulation continue to insult my intelligence and mock me. It suckity sucks sucks!

  6. GO GIRLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! Thank you for shining the light on this. It still surprises me our fellow New Age people defend her and say she is walking a non judgmental path. Awesome work as usual and kudos to the like-minded truth seekers helping you, and all us, out.
