Tuning in to the energy of the 2018 Taurus Full Moon on Wednesday, 24 October, I realised that this lunation has the potential of being pivotal in terms of creating a shift for many of us. The Sun in Scorpio opposite Moon in Taurus is usually quite an auspicious time for manifesting our heart’s desire but there is so much else going on in the Heavens for this Full Moon that the only thing that is certain about Wednesday is that things will change and change in some pretty earth-shattering ways for some of us.
In the Tarot, we have two corresponding cards in the Minor Arcana for this lunation. Moon in Taurus is the auspicious 6 of Pentacles… but first decan Taurus where this lunation takes place is the 5 of Pentacles. The energy of the 5 of Pentacles is counterbalanced by the energy of the 5 of Cups (first decan Scorpio) on the ‘sunny side’ of the chart, where Venus Rx currently also resides. Not easy energies to navigate but so beneficial for our soul’s growth.
The tension between our need for material stability (Moon in Taurus) and our need to explore the depths of our psyche (Sun + Venus Rx in Scorpio) must be resolved now, one way or another and this time the resolution will bring BIG change (Uranux Rx). This change will affect our values to a certain degree as well. What has mattered rather a lot in the past may simply cease to feel important in some instances.
Relationships could be affected, as could our calling in life. Expect the unexpected, including abrupt endings and spectacularly innovative resolutions to longstanding problems. The element of destruction is certainly present but mainly in the sense that the old must be torn down now, to make room for something new and better.
The main player other than the Sun and Moon is Uranus Rx which is conjunct the Full Moon, bringing in the energy of unexpected events, shake-ups, innovation and rebellion. This powerful combination of Moon and Uranus Rx in Taurus is the perfect antidote to the status quo. Look at where the shake-up is happening in your own Natal Chart and check for natal placements in the first couple of degrees of other fixed signs.
The Lunar Nodes also want to be in this game, with the North Node in Leo and the South Node in Aquarius forming a grand cross with the Sun + Moon/Uranus.
Totting all this up, we can easily see that maintaining any kind of stability could be difficult… But is stability what we really want when the stars align to help us rebel against the status quo? I reckon not. I reckon we might be better off going with the flow.
In the words of astrologer Andrew Ifandis:
There is a karmic and evolutionary lesson that can be found here if we are able to integrate this Full Moon’s opposition constructively.
The Tarot spread below will help us go with the flow, as well as help us integrate the lessons that come with this shift…
