5 of Swords Angelic Tarot Card Meanings

5 of Swords Angelic Tarot Card Meanings

The 5 of Swords (Venus in Aquarius) often shows a situation or person in the worst possible light. Someone is being a user or taker. They do not care what the cost or emotional impact is on their fellow man. All they care about is that they achieved their goal and outwitted whomever or whatever stood in their way. They are cut off from their heart and lack any feelings of compassion or empathy. Their motivation is entirely egoic because they are on a path of fear and not of love.

“Fear is a weakness. It makes a person lose her nerve and her cool. It makes people jumpy and organizations nervous, and when that happens, there is always a chance to take advantage.”
~ Ally Carter

Not all bad

However, with Venus in Aquarius as the astrological correspondence, there are some possible positive qualities at the other end of this spectrum we would do well to consider. Venus in Aquarius is capable of detaching emotionally so that valuable opportunities do not pass us by. Yes, it can be a fine line to walk at times but as long as the intent to honour the Golden Rule is there, we would all do well to learn the positive lesson the 5 of Swords brings.

The traditional RWS depiction of the 5 of Swords is a battle scene where there seem to be no winners. When we find ourselves in this kind of scenario as we all inevitably do from time to time, the best thing we can do is walk away. One example of such a situation is finding ourselves being dragged into various arguments on social media platforms because we have chosen a side. The arguments only serve to perpetuate the division. Log off and use your time for something more life-affirming.

Affirmation: “I have no enemy other than myself.”

The 5 of Swords in Love and Relationships

The aggression and competitive element found in the 5 of Wands has usually turned really nasty here. Someone is hellbent on getting the upper hand and there is no room for love anymore. When this card shows up in a reading, it’s time to take stock of what you can take with you before you get out as quickly as possible. The other person doesn’t have your best interests at heart – It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. You will notice that everything you say to them can and will be turned against you.

Single and looking

In a reading for a single person, this card means that they need to start moving in different social circles if they are hoping to meet someone nice.

Intimacy

There can be no real intimacy when the 5 of Swords shows up.
