Number One – A Tarot Love Haiku
I am number one
In the story of my life
Glad to share my joy
Today’s draw is from the Romance Angels Oracle and the Frideborg Tarot. I get the ‘Love Yourself First’ card a lot in readings about love & romance. It’s something we have head knowledge about but very few people have had the courage to do the work.
Mind you, it’s life-long work for most of us, so please don’t feel that you have to be ‘finished’ before you deserve being cherished by another… But there are certain lessons we need to master before we can manifest ‘forever love’:
- You need to respect yourself and your own boundaries. Nobody else will unless you do. Establishing self-respect is hard but doable if you have been raised without it. I speak from experience here.
- You need to understand about equality in give and take and not settle for being ‘the giver’ as this is a sure-fire way of establishing a co-dependent relationship. Needing to feel needed is a popular trap for women because it is how many of us are raised but some men also fall into this trap.
- You need to know how to be happy on your own and use this happiness (rather than a need or a fear of being alone) as the foundation for sharing your life with another.
- You need to understand that you don’t need to compromise any of your core needs and if you are, you’re not with the right one.
In the 10 of Cups (Mars in Pisces) we get a sense of a couple who have started a family because they have both emotional affinity and a shared vision of the future. Harmony abounds. This is what we all wish for and also what we all deserve. There is no need for you to settle for less…

I love this! Thank you! I’ve also found that the way I talk to myself in any given moment could be more loving and compassionate. I am learning to relate to myself in kinder ways.
Love your blog!!

Thank you, so glad you enjoy the blog! Yes, it’s important to monitor that self-talk 🙂 Well done!
I love this message! Like RuPaul says, “If you don’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love anybody else?” 🙂 I think sometimes people forget about themselves, especially when they set their sights on someone specific. There’s, like, this thing that takes over where all you want to do is make the other person happy while sacrificing a lot of yourself. That has been my experience, anyway. Self love all day, every day! Great post! <3
