Today I am revisiting some of my favourite Tarot decks for love and relationship readings. I should probably mention that the Golden Tarot of Botticelli and the DruidCraft both do double duty – the former is perfect for readings about prosperity and the Druidcraft is an excellent ‘all rounder.’ I have revised this list slightly since it was first published on the Tarotize blog, to include the Tarot of Sexual Magic which wasn’t published at the time this article was first posted and which quickly became a real work horse for me.
The Golden Tarot of Botticelli. A tarot deck that contains Botticelli’s Venus and the Three Graces couldn’t possibly be anything other than romantic, now could it? This deck provides an extra rich sensory experience thanks to the carefully applied gold leaf. A joy to work with for love and relationship readings, this deck has symbology which at times strays from the traditional card meanings but is mostly easy to read with.
The Lovers’ Path Tarot by Kris Waldherr is not only one of the most romantic decks you can imagine – It is also one of the most visually pleasing decks ever created. The mythological imagery speaks to the depths of the psyche and makes it easy to understand how each of the archetypes apply to relationships. This deck and book set comes beautifully presented and makes for a rich and rewarding relationship reading experience.
The Victorian Romantic Tarot (featured in image above) is created by Karen Mahoney and Alex Ukolov published by Baba Prague. Beware of counterfeits if you are looking to add this gem to your collection. I recommend buying only from the linked site rather than eBay sellers if you wish to make sure the deck is an original and not a cheap knock-off. This is one of my favourite working decks for client readings about love and romance. It comes with two Lovers cards – one more sensual (the one depicted) and one for a more platonic love relationship.
The Legacy of the Divine Tarot by Ciro Marchetti has a both sensual and mysterious feel to it. It is well suited for most types of readings but works very well for relationship readings. The dark borders really make the images pop.
The Tarot of the Vampyres by Ian Daniels is a darkly romantic gothic vampire deck. A must for all vampire lovers and by far the most beautiful and romantic of all vampire decks on the market. The companion book is a great read too and not just a filler like some companion books.
The Sensual Wicca Tarot by Nada Mesar & Elisa Poggese comes with a warning: some of the images are quite graphic. Also, the tarot card meanings are sometimes quite far off the traditional card meanings. If this hasn’t put you off, this could be a great deck for more intimate readings – perhaps together with your partner 😉
The Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso is one of the prettiest decks ever made. It has a sweet, innocent, playful and dreamlike quality. This deck is extremely romantic (11 out of 10) and very well suited for relationship readings. The card meanings don’t stray too far away from the traditional Waite Smith imagery/meanings. I find that this is the deck of choice for clients who come for a love Tarot reading.
The DruidCraft Tarot imagery is perfect for the pagan or people who like nature in general. There is some nudity but if this doesn’t put you off, this is a deck that works extremely well for relationship readings.
The Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui Mun-Law is a gentle and dreamy pastel coloured deck with lots of swirly lines. It’s oh so romantic but requires a sensitive and poetic mindset. This deck doesn’t shout – it hums quietly. The messages it does deliver are well worth hushing up for though.
The Tarot of Sexual Magic by Laura Tuan, illustrated by Mauro de Luca, has everything you need for a hen party or a girl’s night in. It also happens to be one of my main working decks for requests by clients who aren’t afraid to ‘go there.’ The imagery deviates quite a lot from the RWS standard though so not recommended for the beginner.
Blessed be!
Lisa

Hi! I have most of the tarot decks you mentioned. What intrigued me the most is what could be the deck from the picture above. ♀️ The lovers card is amazing!

Hi Kutty,
That’s The Lovers from the Victorian Romantic Tarot deck by Magic Realist Press.
Great post, Lisa. I have a couple of decks by Ciro Marchetti, including Legacy of the Divine. There are a lot of great decks out there, but you have picked some good ones here!
Thanks Ashen!
