Rather than using Tarot to provide fixed predictions or certainty about the future, I work with the symbolic images of the cards to illuminate patterns, possibilities and perspectives that may help you discern your next steps.
Every reading is written personally by me and delivered by email. This gives me time to sit with your cards, contemplate the symbolism and provide a thoughtful interpretation rather than a rushed response.
My approach is grounded in personal agency, discernment and the belief that a good Tarot reading should leave you better equipped to make your own choices.

What Is a Summum Bonum Tarot Reading?
Summum Bonum means the Highest Good.
Within my Christian understanding, the Highest Good is ultimately God. This provides the orientation for how I approach your reading without requiring you to share my beliefs.
You are welcome to book a reading whatever your spiritual or religious background. I am not here to impose my worldview on you or tell you what you ought to believe.
The Summum Bonum concerns the intention I bring to the cards: to seek an interpretation oriented towards truth, wisdom, love, courage and the preservation of your freedom to choose.
A Tarot card presents a symbolic image. I contemplate what that image might illuminate in relation to your question and use my experience of Tarot symbolism, intuition and discernment to interpret what arises.
The cards do not make your decisions for you.
A good reading should give you greater clarity for making those decisions yourself.
What Can You Ask About?
You can bring most ordinary life questions to a Summum Bonum Reading.
Relationships, work, creativity, spiritual development, family situations, difficult decisions and periods of uncertainty can all benefit from a fresh perspective.
You don’t need to formulate a beautifully spiritual question either. Life is messy, and sometimes the question really is, What the hell do I do about this?
What matters more is whether we can frame your concern in a way that gives the cards room to provide useful guidance.
For example, rather than asking Will my relationship survive?, we might explore What do I need to understand about this relationship and how I am currently approaching it?
Instead of When will I get another job?, we could ask What can help me move towards the right work for me?
This moves the focus away from trying to obtain certainty about things neither of us can control and towards the possibilities, choices and responses available to you now.

What About Prediction?
Tarot can sometimes show where circumstances appear to be heading.
Patterns have trajectories. Choices have consequences, and a spread can occasionally make the likely development of a situation remarkably clear.
But trajectory is not destiny.
Circumstances change. Other people make choices. New information appears. You have free will too.
For this reason, I don’t make absolute predictions or promise that an event will happen within a particular timeframe.
If the cards suggest a possible future development, I will interpret it in the context of your reading and, most importantly, consider what that possibility means for the choices available to you now.
Prediction remains subordinate to discernment.

It works particularly well when you already understand the situation but want the cards to illuminate something you may not have considered.
Because this is a mini-reading, choose a question that can reasonably be addressed within a short response. If your situation involves several people, multiple possible outcomes or a complicated backstory, the 1-Question Reading will usually serve you better.

What You Can Expect From Me
I’ve been reading Tarot for decades, and my approach has continued to evolve throughout that time.
I won’t tell you that a frightening card means something terrible is destined to happen. Nor will I manufacture certainty where none exists or tell you what you want to hear simply because it would be comforting.
What I will do is take your question seriously.
I’ll look carefully at the cards, consider the symbolism in the context of what you have shared and give you my clearest interpretation of what I see.
Sometimes that will be reassuring. At other times, a reading may challenge an assumption or draw your attention towards something uncomfortable.
The purpose isn’t to make every reading pleasant.
It is to make it useful, compassionate and oriented towards the Highest Good.
Your Choices Remain Your Own
Tarot should never take your agency away.
A reading can illuminate a pattern without determining what you must do about it. It can reveal a possible trajectory without fixing your future. It can offer another perspective without replacing your own judgement.
This is especially important to me when reading for someone else.
I don’t want you leaving a reading feeling dependent upon me or the cards for your next decision. I want you to leave with greater clarity about what belongs to you: your choices, your values and your next step.
