The Tower Angelic Tarot Card Meanings

The Tower card signifies what happens when we do not align our desires with Higher Will. Corresponding astrologically with the planet Mars (lust, sex, drive, competition, willpower, life force/energy levels and combat/war), The Tower card is usually a warning that we are about to get knocked back, seemingly out of the blue.

However, if we were able to look deeper we see that the reason we are knocked back is that we let our Tower energy (our desires) run amok somewhere along the line. It is a matter of simple cause and effect. And speedy karma is often better than having to wait until our next incarnation. Once the dust settles and we have our bearings again, we are free to start over and hopefully – lesson learned – we are better able to harness the wild energy of the Tower better next time.

The symbol for the planet Mars ♂ gives us many clues about the health/medical implications of this card. It obviously rules the male reproductive organs and regulates testosterone levels in both males and females. Psychologically, it rules any conditions tied in with a lack of impulse control and increased levels of aggression. However, it is also tied to stress and adrenal gland activity through activation of the flight/fight response. The Tower can also indicate the use/abuse of growth hormones and steroids.

Corresponding to both the Solar Plexus Chakra and the Root Chakra, the effects of this archetypal energy can make us feel completely sucker punched when we are out of alignment with Higher Will or it can make us feel extremely powerful.

Accidents and Desires

Our connection to Earth gets iffy and we feel ungrounded/spaced out after a negative Tower experience, as the energy will have destabilised the Root Chakra, sometimes literally knocking us off our feet; Accidents are indicated by this card.

Aggression is expressed at the level of the solar plexus chakra through The Tower, with the other 7 vibration card, The Chariot, showing more passive-aggressiveness. Even when this card expresses desire/lust more than aggression, we tend to follow our passion aggressively under the influence of The Tower. It is a card of pursuit and running as fast and far as we can in the direction of our desires.

LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS

The Tower energies strike suddenly and the impact often feels devastating. What we thought we had is gone in an instant and we are stood in a heap of rubble with no clue what to do next.

“Men go to far greater lengths to avoid what they fear than to obtain what they desire.”
― Dan Brown, The Da Vinci Code

To the relationship, The Tower often means a break-up out of the blue but it really does depend largely on surrounding cards. Yes, together with for instance the 10 of Swords or the 10 of Wands, it signifies the ending of a relationship… but together with the Ace of Cup it means being hit by the arrows of Cupid… again, out of the blue.

What the Tower always brings is the need to go back to the beginning and start over. You realise that you have been building something that couldn’t last – much like the Tower of Babel in the Bible. The force of lightning comes from your Higher Self, clearing the way for a creating something more in alignment with Divine Will.

Testosterone

Because of the association with the Planet Mars, The Tower can also signify the male libido, aggression and any physical condition associated with fluctuations in testosterone levels. Ill dignified, erectile dysfunction could be an issue, as could a low sperm count or premature ejaculation.

Together with the 3 of Cups, you’re in for some amazing sex. Together with The Devil, it could turn into a bit of a marathon affair where one of you needs to say ‘enough’ or agree on some kind of ‘safe word’ beforehand.

This is raw masculine force and vitality, so to a single lady, it could mean that she needs to work on owning and integrating her male qualities in preparation for meeting the one.

Third chakra issues in general, and anger issues in particular, could be indicated when the Tower shows up in a reading. The Tower together with a Court Card can warn you of someone with low impulse control.

To a couple, it doesn’t have to mean the end of the relationship. Something earth-shattering could be happening regarding the home, work or children which will also impact the relationship.

In general, it could be said that The Tower energies cause rapid and sharp change but much like a good thunderstorm, it leaves the air fresh and clean, and easier to breathe.
