Angels remind us that creation holds more than we can see and that God’s care reaches into ordinary life. Prayer, study and contemplation offer ways to become more attentive to that companionship.
My approach to the angelic realm has changed over the years. Today, I place greater emphasis on discernment, trust and the fruits of spiritual practice. Does it help us love more freely, act responsibly and respond to life with courage and compassion?
The resources below bring together Guardian Angel devotion, the seven planetary angels, the traditional nine angelic choirs and the 72 Shem HaMephorash angels. Each offers a different doorway into angelic study.
Begin with Your Guardian Angel
You do not need to know an angel’s name or receive an extraordinary sign before you can pray. Begin with a simple request for guidance, give thanks and leave room for mystery.
Your Guardian Angel: Prayer, Discernment & Tarot Spread
A guide to angelic companionship through prayer and daily reflection. It considers signs and spiritual experiences with discernment and includes a five-card Tarot spread for noticing, receiving, discerning, responding and entrusting.
The prayer and reflections can be used on their own. Tarot is an optional part of the practice.
The Seven Angels of the Week
The Western esoteric tradition associates each day of the week with a planet and an angel. These correspondences can provide a weekly rhythm for reflecting on qualities such as courage, patience, generosity and wise communication.
The Seven Weekday Angels: Planetary Rulers & Their Spiritual Gifts
Meet the angels associated with the days of the week and consider their planetary symbolism, spiritual gifts and Tarot correspondences.
You might choose one theme to carry through the day. Bring it into prayer, notice where it appears in your circumstances and find one practical way to express it.
The Nine Angelic Choirs
The traditional nine choirs offer a vision of creation ordered towards God. Their symbolism invites reflection on divine love, wisdom, justice, service and care.
The Nine Angelic Choirs—with Tarot Spread
An introduction to Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels and Angels, with a contemplative spread inspired by their attributes.
This hierarchy belongs to a theological tradition. Its purpose here is to deepen study and reflection, while leaving space for the mystery of the beings it describes.
Find Your Shem HaMephorash Birth Angels
The Shem HaMephorash has roots in Jewish mysticism. Later esoteric traditions developed associations between the 72 angelic names, the zodiac, birth dates and Tarot.
On Angelorum, these correspondences provide a framework for studying divine qualities through Psalms, prayer, contemplation and the cards.
Find Your Shem HaMephorash Birth Angels
Use the birth-date and birth-time tables, look up angels by Tarot card or browse the complete index of 72 angel profiles.
Your birth correspondences offer a starting point. You can also study an angel whose qualities speak to a question or challenge you are currently facing.
The Shem birth-angel system and Guardian Angel devotion come from different traditions. Both appear here, with attention to their respective origins.
Bring the Study into Everyday Life
Choose one resource and give it time. Read a little, pray simply and reflect on what it asks of you.
You might keep a journal with three questions:
- What am I being invited to put into practice?
- What needs further discernment?
- How can I respond with love today?
An insight becomes useful through the way we live it. Sometimes the next step is a kind word, an honest conversation, a necessary boundary or a quiet act of service.
Why Tarot & Angels Belong Together
Angels already inhabit the imagery of the Tarot. The Marseille Tarot Angel of Temperance pours between two vessels, Judgement sounds an angelic trumpet, and a winged Cupid presides over the Lover’s scene. In the Rider–Waite–Smith deck, the Lovers stand beneath an angel commonly identified as Archangel Raphael, bringing a different spiritual emphasis to the image.
These figures offer rich material for contemplation: the patient integration of Temperance, the awakening call of Judgement and the relationship between love and choice.
Tarot emerged in fifteenth-century Italy as a card game. Its imagery drew on the religious, moral and social world around it, including virtues and the Last Judgement. Angelic imagery belongs within that inheritance. Later esoteric traditions developed further connections between Tarot, astrology, Hebrew letters and angelic names.
For me, bringing Tarot and angels together means allowing these images and traditions to support prayerful attention. A card can help me ponder a virtue, recognise a pattern or consider how to respond with greater love and integrity under the guidance of my Guardian Angel.
The value of that practice becomes visible in everyday life: clearer discernment, deeper compassion and the willingness to act on what we have understood.
