Do you know what day of the week you were born? In the Western esoteric tradition, each weekday is associated with one of the seven classical planets and its corresponding angel. These associations offer a framework for prayer, contemplation and spiritual study.
You might begin with the angel associated with your birth weekday or follow the whole weekly cycle. Each day provides an opportunity to reflect on a different quality and put it into practice.
Weekday associations are one approach to birth angels. You can also study your Shem HaMephorash birth angels or begin with Guardian Angel devotion.

A Weekly Rhythm of Prayer & Reflection
The weekday correspondences can give your spiritual practice a simple rhythm. You might contemplate courage on Tuesday, wise communication on Wednesday or generosity on Thursday.
Begin by bringing your concerns before God. Ask for angelic companionship and guidance in accordance with Divine Will. Then consider how the dayβs theme relates to your circumstances.
You could ask:
- What quality needs my attention today?
- Where could I respond with greater wisdom or love?
- What practical step is mine to take?
Record anything useful in your journal. If questions about vocation arise, the Life Purpose Tarot Spread offers another opportunity for reflection.
You can ask for help on any day. The weekly cycle provides structure; it does not restrict prayer or make divine care dependent on getting the timing right.
Understanding the Planetary Correspondences
The seven classical planets are the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. In this historical framework, βplanetβ includes the Sun and Moon as celestial lights.
The angelic names used here belong to a particular strand of Western esoteric tradition. Other sources use different names or associations. If you are comparing systems, my guide to astrological systems provides further context.
Modern esoteric systems also associate angels with Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. On Angelorum, these include Uriel, Asariel and Azrael. Those additional correspondences sit outside the seven classical weekday rulerships.
Angels & Tarot
The Angelic Tarot card meanings bring together card imagery, spiritual reflection and angelic correspondences.
For this weekday guide, the Tarot associations follow the planetary symbolism familiar from the Golden Dawn tradition: the Sun with the Sun card, the Moon with the High Priestess, and so on.
The Shem HaMephorash Tarot correspondences offer a related framework for studying the Minor Arcana. Each system can enrich contemplation when its origins and assumptions are understood.
You might place the relevant card before you, notice its imagery and consider how its themes relate to the day. Bring what arises into prayer and test your interpretation through discernment and lived experience.
The illustrations below are from the RiderβWaiteβSmith Tarot, created by A. E. Waite and artist Pamela Colman Smith and first published in 1909. Its symbolism draws substantially on their involvement with the Golden Dawn.ishing & Sons in London. I highly recommend getting a copy of this deck if you are interested in learning Angelic Tarot.

Monday – Archangel Gabriel

Archangel Gabriel: Receptivity, Discernment & Hope
Archangel Gabriel is associated with the Moon and Monday. His name means βGod is my strength.β

Tuesday – Archangel Samael

Archangel Samael: Courage, Restraint & Right Action
Archangel Samael is associated with Mars and Tuesday. His symbolism invites us to consider how we use strength, respond to conflict and act when something needs to change.
Tuesdayβs themes include the courage to challenge injustice, protect healthy boundaries and undertake difficult work. They also ask us to examine our motives. Anger can alert us to harm, but we still need discernment about what to do with it.

Through the companionship of Samael, help me face what needs courage. Teach me to defend dignity, respect boundaries and act with restraint.
Keep anger from governing my choices. Give me the humility to recognise my mistakes and the resolve to put them right.
May my actions serve love.
Amen.
Tuesday Reflection
Spend a few minutes with The Tower. Notice what its imagery brings to mind about disruption, vulnerability and the foundations you rely on.
Ask yourself:

Choose one constructive response: address a neglected problem, state a boundary clearly, support someone facing unfair treatment or begin a difficult task.
Wednesday – Archangel Raphael

Archangel Raphael: Healing, Communication & Guidance
Archangel Raphael is associated with Mercury and Wednesday. His name means βGod has healed.β
In the Book of Tobit, Raphael accompanies Tobias on his journey and brings healing to his family. His story connects companionship, practical help and the care through which Godβs providence becomes visible.
Mercuryβs symbolism adds themes of communication, learning and exchange. Wednesday offers an opportunity to consider how we use words and knowledge. Do we listen carefully? Can we explain something more clearly? What might help a strained conversation move towards understanding?

Thursday β Archangel Sachiel

Archangel Sachiel: Wise Growth, Generosity & Providence
Archangel Sachiel is associated with Jupiter and Thursday. His themes invite us to recognise worthwhile opportunities, pursue growth wisely and use our resources for the Highest Good.
Growth asks for discernment. An opportunity may look promising, but does it fit your responsibilities and values? Can you pursue it without neglecting what already needs your care?

Ask yourself:
What would wise growth look like in my present circumstances?
Choose one practical response: examine an opportunity carefully, share a resource, seek useful advice or take a measured step towards a worthwhile goal.
Friday – Archangel Anael

Archangel Anael: Love, Beauty & Creative Care
Archangel Anael is associated with Venus and Friday. Her themes invite reflection on affection, relationship, beauty and the care that helps life flourish.
Love becomes visible through attention. We listen, make time, offer encouragement and respect another personβs freedom. Friday can provide a moment to consider how we give and receive affection, and whether our relationships allow room for honesty and mutual care.
Venus also brings creativity and pleasure into the picture. Music, art, flowers, a shared meal or time in a garden can draw our attention towards the goodness of ordinary life. Beauty can become an invitation to gratitude.
Traditional Associations & Themes
- Venus and Friday
- Affection and loving relationships
- Friendship and reconciliation
- Beauty, music and the arts
- Creativity and nurture
- Receiving care
- Self-respect and healthy boundaries
- Gratitude and the enjoyment of simple pleasures
Consider a relationship or creative endeavour that needs tending. What would help it flourish? A small, consistent act of care may offer more than a grand gesture.
Optional Symbolic Supports
Pink, coral and green reflect familiar Venusian associations. Rose quartz, emerald, turquoise or chrysocolla can serve as reminders of affection and beauty. Copper also belongs to Venusβs traditional symbolism.
A rose, a candle or a little rose or ylang-ylang scent may help you set aside a moment for prayer. These supports are optional. Your attention and the care you put into practice matter most.
A Prayer for Friday
God of love and beauty, open my eyes to the goodness around me.
Through the companionship of Archangel Anael, help me give and receive affection with honesty and freedom. Teach me to nurture relationships without trying to control them.
Bless my creative work and the ordinary care I offer. Help me welcome joy with gratitude and treat myself and others with tenderness.
May what I tend become fruitful in love.
Amen.
Friday Reflection
Spend a few minutes with The Empress. Notice the signs of life, beauty and growth in the image.
Ask yourself:
What needs loving attention to flourish?
Choose one practical response: make time for someone, accept an offer of help, tend a creative project or bring a little beauty into your surroundings.
Saturday – Archangel Cassiel

Archangel Cassiel: Patience, Boundaries & Perseverance
Archangel Cassiel is associated with Saturn and Saturday. His themes invite reflection on time, responsibility and the steady care that sustains a commitment.
Some things develop slowly. We may need to practise a skill, keep a promise or live with uncertainty while doing what remains within our reach. Saturday offers a moment to consider what deserves continued effort and what has reached its natural end.
Saturnβs symbolism also brings limits into focus. A boundary can protect something precious. Rest can support perseverance. Recognising our capacity helps us make commitments we can honour.
Traditional Associations & Themes
- Saturn and Saturday
- Patience and perseverance
- Time and long-term commitments
- Healthy boundaries
- Discipline and responsibility
- Contemplation and solitude
- Ageing, endings and remembrance
- Completion and the fruits of sustained effort
Consider a responsibility you are carrying. What would help you meet it faithfully? You may need a clearer routine, practical support or permission to release something that no longer belongs to you.
Optional Symbolic Supports
Black, grey, deep blue and brown reflect familiar Saturnian associations. Haematite, black tourmaline, brown jasper or jet can serve as reminders of steadiness and boundaries. A candle or a little myrrh or cypress incense may help you mark a quiet period of reflection.
These supports are optional. Making time to pause can itself be a meaningful practice.
A Prayer for Saturday
God of wisdom and mercy, help me use my time with care.
Through the companionship of Archangel Cassiel, strengthen my patience and guide my commitments. Teach me to recognise my limits and seek help when I need it.
Give me perseverance in what serves love, peace with what has ended and wisdom about what I must release.
May my daily faithfulness bear good fruit.
Amen.
Saturday Reflection
Spend a few minutes with The World. Notice its enclosing wreath and consider what has come together through time and effort.
Ask yourself:
What deserves my continued commitment, and what is ready to be completed?
Choose one practical response: finish a lingering task, establish a sustainable routine, honour a boundary or make room for rest.
What About Archangel Uriel?
You may have seen Uriel included as another angel of Saturday. This comes from later correspondences linking Uriel with Uranus and Aquarius. Aquarius has Saturn as its traditional ruler, which helps explain the overlap.
For this guide, Cassiel remains the angel of Saturday. The seven-day sequence follows the seven classical planets. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto belong to later astrological developments.
Urielβs name means βGod is my light.β His symbolism offers a fitting theme to carry beyond this weekly cycle: illumination that helps us understand more clearly and respond wisely.
You can bring that intention into prayer on any day. Ask God for light where you feel uncertain, then make room for study, reflection and sound advice.
A Weekly Rhythm of Prayer & Reflection
You do not need to follow every correspondence or turn the week into another spiritual checklist. Choose a theme that speaks to your circumstances and give it your attention.
Courage, receptivity, right action, compassionate communication, generosity, loving care and perseverance all have a place in everyday life. The value of this practice becomes visible in how we live those qualities.

If you’re a smoker, that can prevent you to connect with these angels??
No, being a smoker doesn’t exclude you from access to the angelic realm. But you may find that turning to them for help may make it easier for you to quit.
What can prevent the angels from helping you when you call on them especially the Friday Angel, Achangel Anael
Hi Patricia, thanks for your question. Attachment to an outcome can make it difficult to stay aligned with their guidance–especially in love and romance. Angels only ever guide us for the Highest Good. The ego often wants something else… especially in romantic scenarios. I hope this helps and wasn’t too general. Feel free to ask a more specific question. Angel Blessings, Lisa
I want to know how to communicate with my angel.
To begin communicating with your guardian angel, start by setting aside a quiet time each day for meditation or prayer. You need to switch from beta brainwave activity to the more serene alpha brainwave pattern. You also need to be persistent. It may not happen the first time you try.
Focus your mind on the presence of your guardian angel, inviting them into your space with openness and sincerity. You may speak aloud or in your heart, expressing your desires for guidance or simply acknowledging their presence. Over time, this daily practice can help you develop a deeper sense of connection and recognition of your guardian angelβs influence in your life. At first, you may just sense their presence but communication will open up if you persist.
Additionally, keeping a journal can be a powerful tool in recognising and understanding the messages from your guardian angel. Write down any thoughts, feelings, or occurrences that happen during your meditation or throughout the day that you feel might be signs or communications from your angel. Often, these messages may come in the form of intuition, coincidences, or external signs that seem particularly meaningful. Reviewing your journal entries regularly can help you discern patterns and guidance that are sometimes more subtle. With patience and consistent effort, this practice can lead to a comforting and guiding relationship with your guardian angel.
You can also ask for specific signs. Don’t be afraid to try different things–Trust your intuition for what will work. Your angel is already guiding you and the more you open up to that, the easier the communication will flow!
I hope this helps, Krizz!
Love,
Raven
I wish to connect archangels for their support. How do connect
Hi Fiifi, it’s very simple. Just go into a quiet place, either in your home or in nature. You can light a candle and say a prayer if you like. Then you just talk to your chosen Archangel and wait for them to reply. You may or may not hear their voice. Sometimes they speak in images and symbols or simply in colour. If you have a specific request, state it and then ask for a sign. You can ask for a specific sign in the form of an animal to appear, for instance.
There are some more tips in this article https://angelorum.co/topics/angels/how-to-connect-with-your-guardian-angel/ and also in this one https://angelorum.co/angels-2/top-5-ways-to-use-an-angel-journal-to-connect-with-your-guardian-angel/

Glad you enjoyed this, Liz and thanks for the link! Blessings, Lisa
Thanks Lisa another great way to find connection with the angels. I’ve discovered Raphael is my angel. Coincidentally I’ve been working with him a lot lately and have always felt comfortable calling on him for help, perhaps this explains why!
I see you’ve posted A.A. Gabriel is your angel – this seems extraordinarily apt too π
