Religion Isn’t the Problem—Literalism Is (Huginn Without Muninn)
Religion becomes brittle when it forgets it’s made of the mead of poetry. The trouble isn’t faith; it’s literalism—the habit of clipping the wings of mystery and calling it safety. In Norse terms, that’s Huginn (thought) trying to fly without Muninn (memory). Húgr without minni is clever but unrooted, all analysis and no ancestry. The Drakruna current answers this by re-pairing the two ravens: intellect guided by deep remembering. Thought becomes a vessel again. Memory lights the way.

The Dissonance of Modern Heathenry
I’m ancestrally Swedish, Finnish, and Sámi—and I’ve never quite recognised myself in the modern forms of Heathenry I’ve met. Reconstruction can be valuable, but when it hardens into performance or politics, the living current goes quiet. I needed a path that honours the North without reducing it to a museum of manners. I needed a wyrd that breathes.
Deep Memory and Hyperborea
For as long as I can recall, there’s been a memory under the memory: auroras like veils, a horizon that felt sentient, and dragons whose language worked directly on the soul. Call it Hyperborea. Call it a mythic epoch before the divorce of Light and Matter.
Some remember this same golden age under other names—Atlantis, Lemuria, Mu. These aren’t competing myths but regional expressions of one primordial civilisation of Light, where consciousness and creation still spoke the same tongue. Whether we call it Hyperborea or Lemuria, the essence is the same: a culture of wisdom, resonance, and ethical magic that honoured the serpent as a symbol of Living Light—the eternal spiral of renewal.
The point isn’t proving a timeline; it’s recognising a texture of consciousness that returns in dreams, in ritual, in those quiet moments when ancestry and infinity share a cup of silence. Deep remembering is less about nostalgia and more about orientation. It reminds us who we are when the noise stops—children of the North Star, heirs to the same radiant wisdom that once spanned the world.
Introducing the Drakruna Path (and Dracosophy)
The Drakruna Path isn’t a new religion; it’s a remembering. It’s the lived covenant between dragon and human, Light and the fruitful Void—a covenant known by many names throughout the ages. The Atlanteans tended it in their crystalline temples, the Lemurians sang it through the waters, and the Hyperboreans guarded it under Thuban in the constellation of Draco—the old pole star that once pointed to the true North.
To walk this path now is to remember what they knew: that the serpent current within us is not to be feared or suppressed but guided and sanctified. Dracosophy underpins the practice of the Drakruna Witch. It is the art of transformation through alignment, movement, rhythm, and will. Dracosophy is the wisdom of shapeshifting consciousness itself, of learning to travel between worlds as easily as breathing.
In my own work, I see this as the reunion of Heka and Megin—the Egyptian principle of Living Light (creative Word) and the Norse principle of inherent Power (life-force in action). Together, Heka × Megin form the dragon-flame that fuels creation itself. It’s the same current that animated Hyperborea, Atlantis, and Lemuria before human pride fractured the covenant. I keep the torch of Hekate Drakaina and the spear-wisdom of Odin at my side, as I navigate this current—a current that plays well with angels as living flames.”
The Soul Work of Deep Remembering
Practically, this path asks for four things:
- Alignment: movement as devotion—choosing Nature’s rhythm over haste. Slow, heart-centred living becomes the antidote to fear-mongering and division.
- Ancestry: honour the bloodline and the myths without becoming beholden to either.
- Integration: work with shadow authentically so sovereignty doesn’t curdle into performance (this path is not about curating chic-looking Instagram posts).
- Service: shape power for the Highest Good, not ego—let the dragon flame bring warmth to the world.
The Drakruna Witch learns to move in rhythm with wyrd and to channel Megin as a priest/ess of the gods—one who remembers that power and compassion must never be divorced. From the Well of Urðr through minni, Megin runs true—so the power of love surpasses the love of power.

Optional: Cast a single rune at the end as the dragon’s seal on the reading.
The Invitation to Remember
If you feel the Drakruna current in your bones, take it as permission to trust your own encounter with the Northern Mysteries. Hyperborea remembers you. The dragons remember you. And your dragon waits within your blood, ready to rise when thought and memory finally fly together.
Let Huginn and Muninn soar as one. Centre yourself in deep remembering and become a living axis of the World Tree. Speak the decree that is yours to speak. Keep the dragon-flame alive in service to Love—so the power of love finally outlives the love of power.
