The New Moon in Aries on 17 April 2026 (12:51 PM BST) marks the true ignition point of the astrological year—a threshold where intention becomes action, and identity begins to take form through choice.
This is not a gentle beginning. It is a decisive one.

With a powerful Aries stellium and multiple high-impact planetary alignments, this lunation does not ask for permission. It asks for alignment, ownership, and movement.
The Field: A Stellium of Fire
This New Moon arrives with an extraordinary concentration of planetary energy in Aries, including the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, Chiron, and Eris.
This creates a field of intensity, acceleration, and raw potential.
Aries does not wait for certainty.
It initiates.
But with so many forces concentrated here, the question becomes:
What exactly are you initiating from?
Impulse…
or truth?
Chiron at the Heart — Healing Identity Wounds
Chiron conjunct the New Moon brings the wound directly into the fire.
This is not abstract healing. It is identity-level recalibration.
Old narratives around inadequacy, rejection, or “not being enough” are exposed—not to punish, but to be transmuted into authority.
The Aries pathway here is simple, but not easy:
You do not heal by waiting to feel ready.
You heal by acting from who you are becoming.
Mars in Aries — Power, Direction, Consequence
Mars, ruler of this lunation, is strong in Aries—direct, focused, and unapologetic.
But this is not reckless fire.
The Mars–Saturn–Mercury alignment introduces discipline, friction, and reality checks.
You may feel:
- A surge of motivation… followed by resistance
- A clear idea… followed by a delay
- A strong urge to move… followed by a wall
This is not blockage.
It is structuring force.
If it holds, it builds.
Mars Sextile Pluto — Deep Transformation
This aspect gives you the capacity to commit fully to change.
Not surface-level adjustments.
Root-level transformation.
This is where:
- Habits are broken properly
- Decisions carry weight
- Power is reclaimed without negotiation
The question here is not “What do I want?”
It is:
What am I willing to stand behind?
Mercury Conjunct Neptune — Intuition vs Illusion
This alignment heightens perception—but also distortion.
You may experience:
- Strong intuitive hits
- Heightened imagination
- Emotional or psychic sensitivity
But also:
- Mixed signals
- Confusion in communication
- External narratives that don’t hold
Discernment becomes essential.
Not everything that feels true… is grounded in truth.
Uranus at 29° Taurus — System Instability
At the final degree of Taurus, Uranus signals volatility in material systems—finance, resources, and the structures we rely on.
This can show up collectively as:
- Sudden financial shifts
- Instability in markets
- Structural breakdowns
But on a personal level, it asks:
Where have you placed your security outside of yourself?
And what happens when that structure shifts?
Zeus on the Lunation — Authority Reclaimed
The asteroid Zeus sits directly on the New Moon.
This is the archetype of command, leadership, and authority.
Collectively, it can reflect leadership shifts or challenges to power.
Individually, it asks something far more direct:
Who is in charge of your life?
Not theoretically.
Practically.
Sabian Symbol — Breaking the Need to Perform
“A large audience confronts the performer who disappointed its expectations.”
This is the moment where external validation collapses.
Where the version of you that tried to meet expectations… no longer holds.
This lunation does not support performance.
It supports authenticity, even when it disrupts approval.
The Deeper Current — From Reaction to Sovereignty
This New Moon is not about becoming someone new.
It is about removing what is not aligned with who you already are.
The shift is from:
- Seeking approval → self-definition
- Reacting to circumstances → directing energy
- Carrying old stories → choosing new ones
This is where Aries becomes more than impulse.
It becomes sovereignty in motion.
New Moon in Aries Tarot Spread — “The Fire of Self-Authority”
Before beginning, take a moment to centre yourself.
You may wish to invoke clarity through breath or a simple intention:
“I align with truth, clarity, and the courage to act from who I am becoming.”

- The Old Identity Pattern
What version of self is ready to be released? - The Core Wound (Chiron)
What needs to be seen and acknowledged at the root? - Distortion or Distraction (Mercury–Neptune)
Where might confusion or illusion be influencing perception? - The Point of Resistance (Saturn)
What feels like a block—but is actually structuring you? - Your True Power Source (Mars in Aries)
Where is your energy strongest and most direct? - The Transformation Path (Mars–Pluto)
What requires full commitment to shift? - Your Sovereign Direction (Zeus)
What does leadership in your own life look like now?
Closing Reflection
This New Moon cuts through the noise.
You see the pattern.
You see where you’ve been bending to fit.
And once you see it clearly,
you can’t pretend anymore.
From here, it’s about choice.

This was amazingly perfect tonight’s new moon. Thank you so much!
Glad you found it useful! 🙂
stumbled upon this post last night when i was doing a new moon ritual for myself & it was so ON POINT. thanks so much for this. also the spread was exactly what i was looking for for the occasion. both intense/foreboding and affirming/encouraging. thanks! <3 xo
You’re very welcome and I’m so glad it was useful to you! Blessings, Lisa )O(
Merry Meet! I stumbled upon your post when searching on Pinterest New Moon Tarot Spread. I would love some input on this draw: 8th spot I drew The Fool (reversed).
Hey, Chelsea, welcome to Angelorum. We don’t really do reversals here. You can read about why here: http://angelorum.co/topics/divination/top-5-reasons-why-i-dont-read-with-reversals/
That said, what does the Fool reversed mean to you? That is where you’ll be in two week’s time… unless YOU choose to turn him right way up, of course… Because if it’s one thing the New Moon in Aries teaches us, it’s to take chare of our own lives 🙂 Blessed be!
Thank you for the New Moon Spread, this is what I got:
1. Temperance – the growth lesson here is to keep centered and balanced
2. Princess of Wands (page of wands) – the challenge is to keep focused or committed to being the messenger of light and hope, to motivate people
3. 5 of cups – Darkness, need to stop worrying about the “losses” and focus on the present blessings
4. 10 of Wands – Light, Focus on one thing at a time as to not become overwhelmed
5. 9 of Swords – Ignorance, I’ve probably been feeling like a victim or being a martyr
6. Queen of Swords – Truth, Overcoming adversity and being more self assured, cutting through the BS
7. 10 of Pentacles – Death, not taking my blessings for granted, focus more on spiritual blessings than material gains
8. 6 of Swords – Immortality, moving towards a balanced mental state
Im still learning tarot, so Im wondering if I did ok with the reading… I was a bit confused with the Temperance card, the 10 of Wands and the 6 of Swords…
Thanks!
I do feel the 10 of Wands as a weariness in my spirit – maybe this is what The Moon is alluding to…
Well, I did this spread again. I pulled the Moon for card 1, then in sequence:
2. Queen of wands
3. King of Swords
4. The Lovers
5. Knight of Wands
6. 10 of Wands
7. 6 of Swords
8. The Hanged Man
How is the King of Swords my shadow? How does the 6 of Swords represent something I must delete from my existence? This spread is more difficult to understand than the incorrect one I did a couple days ago 🙂
That could be a sign you were too quick off the mark to use the spread again… or this is simply just not the spread for you. The King of Swords as shadow can be someone who uses unnecessary force behind his words to drive his point home. The lack of empathy can be near total.
Interestingly I missed the part about using majors only for spot 1 but got a major card anyway. It happens to be Strength (11) which is my birth number and also the number my name equates to in numerology. Quite powerful to be sure. I also got a major in the second spot, The Magician and again for card 4, Solutions (14).
I used the Archangel Power tarot deck (chosen intuitively) for this reading. The card I’m struggling with is the card I got in the death position which is seemingly positive, 7 of Gabriel. I’m thinking I’m supposed to do the opposite of what this card says which is to speak my truth and stand up for myself and have confidence in my own ability.
Any insight?
By the way, your site and your work is amazing! Thank you for what you do!
Laura
Reading ‘positive’ cards in ‘negative’ positions can be tricky if you’re only trained to read DV style. When you train with the Waite Smith, provided you have a good teacher, you learn the full spectrum of meanings for each card. Every card has a shadow and even the darkest card has a positive meaning. In the case of the 7 of Wands (Mars in Leo) the Death position could be about being too ‘trigger happy’… not choosing one’s fights wisely – i.e. being defensive/allowing the ego to pick the fights. I hope this helps, Laura. Thanks for your kind words about my work, btw. Love and Blessings, Lisa
Ooops – card 8 is the Chariot, not another magician 🙂
Beautiful spread, Lisa – I got, inthe order of the cards:
1. Ace of cups
2.The sun
3. Death
4. Knight of wands
5. The Magician
6. 2 of pentacles
7. 7 of swords
8. The magician
I am a little confused about the meaning of cards 3 and 6 – I know I need to be more selfish and less co-dependent so I’m not sure how this card relates. Card 6 – someone who read my hand when I was a teenager said I would always be juggling two things – loves, work, etc. Any thoughts you might have 🙂
Death as shadow means issues around staying stuck emotionally as it corresponds with Scorpio/Fixed Water. Call on Archangel Azrael for help with this. You are supposed to choose a Major Arcana card for position one and read it together with card 6. I suggest you wait a day or two and try again. Personally, I don’t feel that prediction about always juggling two things was helpful to you, so forget about it. You actually get to choose what you take to heart. Blessings
Thanks Lisa – indeed, I did it wrong. Will let it rest for a couple of days and do it correctly
