top five reasons to stop doing magic

This morning’s post, ‘Top 5 Reasons to Stop Doing Magic’ was inspired by a newsletter from the Rockstar Priestess yesterday. The newsletter opens with the sentence, “Sometimes this comes across as an unpopular opinion, but I believe that Priestesses have gotta be good at spellwork.”

Now, there is nothing wrong with the statement above but not everyone on a Priestess Path is inclined toward Manifesting. Spellwork is essentially a more archaic term for Manifesting. It is the kind of magic that relies on force of will. As mentioned in a previous post, there are three main types of magic.

By the way, if you are the kind of person who adores spellwork, this post may or may not be for you. It could provide you with a useful perspective that leads to a new approach. Let me know in the comments!

As someone whose primary magical gifts lie in divination and prophecy, forcing my will on anything does not come naturally. I have tuned into why this is so difficult from an energetic point of view and it is really quite logical. When you engage in seership, you are in a Yin/receptive mode. When you cast a spell, you operate from a Yang mode of being. It’s all about the balance of Water (receptive) and Fire (active) within.

Water Cannot Turn into Fire

Of course, we have to each balance these divine masculine and feminine forces within but we cannot force ourselves to be any more Yin or Yang than our soul essence allows us. Water cannot will itself to turn into Fire.

So what is the solution and how do we achieve balance? We harness the forces of the Element that is lacking by being magic. Because though we as fractals of the Divine reflect certain Elements more than others, our spirits are always one with the Source that contains all Elements and that is where the real magic lies. It also frees our souls from being bound to a particular Path.

Now, please don’t misunderstand me, there is immense value in choosing or being chosen to immerse oneself fully in the mystery teachings of occult, esoteric and magical paths. But, eventually, as we journey deeper, all paths dissolve into one and it then becomes about simplifying things, paring them down to the core. This is how we end up centred in beingness on the path that is the Vibration of our Soul Essence which is pure magic.

There are several reasons why learning how to be magic rather than doing magic can offer a unique perspective and experience. Here are five reasons why being magic is better than merely doing magic or casting spells:

1. Innate Power

Being magic means that magical abilities are an inherent part of your being. It’s not something acquired or learned but an intrinsic aspect of who you are. Children know this and children born with this knowing in their consciousness awareness are essentially Christ Avatars who continue to keep things simple throughout their lives. They need no complicated symbols to do healing, for instance. Rather, they simply allow themselves to be the medicine, in the moment, through whatever means available.

Many of the children born now are of this kind. They are aware of the innate power that grants them a deep connection with the mystical forces of the universe, allowing them to express magic effortlessly and naturally.

2. Unlimited Potential

When you embody magic, your potential for growth and mastery knows no bounds. Unlike those who merely practice or cast spells, being magic allows you to tap into an infinite wellspring of potential that can be unlocked and explored for a lifetime. Your abilities can constantly evolve and expand, offering you endless possibilities for exploration and expression. You don’t continue to outgrow a system to frantically have to look for the next system to squeeze your limitless spirit into. The need for labels evaporates.

Instead, you accept that you are limitless and that it’s okay to use whatever tools that work. However, you are acutely aware that the tools or symbols themselves hold no power. The power flows from you. Sometimes, however, it is necessary to use tools to help the beliefs of another person. I’m thinking, for instance, of the time Yeshua mixed dirt with his saliva to put over the eyelids of the blind man he cured.

Yeshua knew that it was the faith of the person, i.e. their innate magic, that cured them. In the case of the blind man, who was yet unaware of his unlimited potential, he needed something tangible (a tool, if you will) to connect him with the magic within.

3. Versatility and Adaptability

Being magic allows you to embody a wide array of magical abilities, rather than limiting yourself to just one or a few disciplines. Whether it’s elemental magic, illusion, healing, divination or telekinesis, you have the ability to wield and combine various magical practices, adapting to any situation or challenge that comes your way.

This may sound rather fantastical but the key is to start small, to build trust in your abilities. Persevere and clear any blockages to trusting that you are the magic along the way. Pay attention to objections that arise from your subconscious mind/programming and use modalities like EFT Tapping to clear them.

4. Intuitive Connection

By getting to know yourself as magic, you possess an intuitive understanding and connection to the magical realm. This deep connection allows you to perceive and interpret the subtle energies and vibrations in ways that those who simply do magic cannot. Your instincts and intuition become heightened, enabling you to navigate the intricate web of magical energies with ease and finesse.

Here are three simple ways to get to know yourself as magic

  • Meditation: Meditation is a powerful tool for self-discovery and connecting with your inner magic. Set aside some quiet time each day to sit in stillness and silence. Focus on your breath and allow yourself to become fully present in the moment. As you meditate, observe any thoughts or emotions that arise without judgment. This practice can help you cultivate self-awareness and deepen your connection to the magic that is you.
  • Journaling: Writing is a wonderful way to explore your magical essence. Take some time each day to journal about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to magic. Reflect on your magical abilities, desires, and any synchronicities or intuitive insights you have encountered. Use your journal as a sacred space to document and uncover the depths of your magical self. You may also try writing affirmations or spells that resonate with your personal magic.
  • Simple Exercises: Engaging in simple exercises can help you tap into and develop your magical abilities. For example, try experimenting with energy manipulation by visualising and feeling the flow of energy within and around you. Practice grounding exercises to connect with the Earth’s energy and establish a strong foundation for your magical practice. Additionally, engage in activities that promote intuition, such as Tarot card readings or divination practices. These exercises can enhance your understanding of yourself as magic and expand your magical repertoire.

Remember, these are just a few simple ways to get started on your journey of self-discovery as a magical being. Feel free to explore and experiment with different practices that resonate with you, and always trust your intuition as you navigate your inner planes. Learning to trust yourself is actually the number one key to becoming the magic that you are.

5. Identity and Self-Expression

Being magic becomes an integral part of your identity, shaping who you are as an individual. It goes beyond performing magic tricks or casting spells; it fills your entire being, influencing how you perceive the world and interact with others. Magic becomes a means of self-expression, reflecting your unique essence. It allows you to create deep personal connections with others who grok your energetic signature, without alienating anyone on a different path. You have moved beyond the need to judge others when you get to this stage of your psychospiritual development.

In conclusion, the distinction between being magic and doing magic lies in the depth of experience and connection. While doing magic and casting spells can certainly be fascinating and enjoyable, being magic offers a profound sense of self, limitless potential, and an intimate relationship with the mystical forces that shape our reality. Embracing the essence of magic within oneself can lead to an extraordinary journey of self-discovery and wonder.
