Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. – John 14:12
If you are not experiencing miracles it is down to one of five reasons:
You don’t believe in miracles
You believe in miracles but for everybody else
You didn’t ask for a miracle
You asked for selfish reasons
You are attached to the outcome
Because of the two cards that showed for today’s spiritual guidance, I was inspired to write about miracles, how they happen naturally and why they don’t happen to so many.
First of all, you do have to believe it to see it. This ties in with another Bible verse ‘And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.’ Faith requires a childlike frame of mind and remain open to receive. The ego objects to both out of pride.
Secondly, you see yourself as less worthy or capable than others. This is also the ego at work, projecting what Jung refers to as ‘Golden Shadow’ onto others.
Thirdly, it is amazing how often we forget to ask. Our minds really are that hardwired to go into worry mode when we would be so much better off simply asking for help.
Fourthly, ‘And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.’ A prayerful mind is a mind centred in the heart. It is a compassionate mind – a mind more interested in the wellbeing of all living beings than in selfish gain.
Finally, once you have remembered to ask and made sure that you only asked ‘for the Higher Good of All,’ you still cannot let go of attachment to a specific outcome. Again, this is the fear-based ego kicking in again. The ego lacks faith and trust. The ego likes to second-guess divine power and spiritual guidance. Simply observe those thoughts and let go of them by again pressing the reset button and allowing your mind to become centred in the heart.
I would like to finish this post by sharing about a miracle that happened to me when I was 20.
I had ventured out into the big wide world on my own, after buying an Interrail ticket that would take me anywhere I fancied within Europe for a whole month. I set off with a very heavy backpack and sensible shoes for walking… when in hindsight, sandals would have been the better option considering the midsummer heat. But yes, I was young, foolish, and too excited to think straight.
My journey started in Stockholm and I had only got as far as the train ride between Copenhagen and Hamburg when I realised I might have to cut my journey short and go back home for medical assistance. I couldn’t walk. The reason was a massive blister on my big toe and the pain was excruciating.
As I sat there, alone, on the train that was too hot for any sensible person to be travelling on the day, I had a sort of epiphany. I remembered the words by Jesus in the opening quote and I thought ‘Aha, I can ask for this blister to go away in prayer.’
To be fair, this being 26 years ago, I don’t remember how I worded the prayer… but I do remember letting go of all worries and not feeling I ‘needed’ a specific outcome. I simply asked for the blister to be removed.
I prayed, cradling the foot on my lap. I seem to recall feeling as if I had moved outside time and space for a while, indicating a light trance state. When I ‘came to,’ I looked down… The blister that had covered the whole top of my big toe was no longer there.
I believe karmic reasons necessitated me to complete this journey, or the blister may not have gone away… but it also would not have gone away unless I had asked.
The faeries manifest everything with great ease. They live on a higher vibrational plane, free from our struggles with 3D ‘reality’ but what they manifest also has karmic implications because they are not free from the burden of the ego. If you decide to ask the faeries for help with manifesting, you still need to make sure that you do so prayerfully, from the heart. That way you only attract faery helpers who are as interested as you are in establishing the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.
