What Is Angel Reiki?

To answer the question, ‘What is Angel Reiki?’ we first need to ask, ‘What is Angelic Reiki?’. Angel Reiki claims lineage from Kevin Core via his groundbreaking Metatronic channellings in 2003. These channellings led Kevin Core to create Angelic Reiki, known in the words of Metatron as ‘The Healing of Our Time.’ Angelic Reiki is still taught by his wife, Christine Core, author of the book Angelic Reiki. In our Angely Mystic Monday post today, we look at popular ways that Angel Healing and Reiki have merged to form new energy healing modalities.

In a way, you could say that there are as many energy healing modalities as there are practitioners. This is because eventually, all healers start doing things in their own unique way. And that is as it should be. That way, there is a healer who is a perfect match for every single person. The healer, of course, is not the one doing the healing; The healer is the one holding the space and facilitating healing energy to flow through the client. And for that to happen, the healer and the client need to be in vibrational harmony.

In the case of Angel Reiki, the healing flowing through the client is the light of the Divine/Angelic Kingdom. The angels are not males/females with wings but rather organising principles of the divine light in the universe. According to Christine Core, the ancient angel sigils used by the occultists are a better match for the energy of the angels than are the popular images of winged beings. Kevin and Christine also work with the angels of the 10 Sephiroth of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life.

Angel Reiki vs Traditional Reiki

In the online Angel Reiki course offered by the Centre of Excellence (6000+ students), the main differences between traditional Usui Reiki and Angel/Angelic Reiki are as follows:

  • All attunements and healings are performed directly by the Angelic Kingdom of Light rather than by the practitioner or teacher
  • By invoking Angelic Light, the practitioner or teacher merge completely with the angelic realm
  • Knowledge about the different functions of various angels enlightens the practitioner about the nature of the Divine
  • Deeper healing becomes possible, thanks to a better understanding of the evolutionary journey of the soul, or, in the words of Christine Core:
healing is not a process of cure; it is an invitation to know who you are

Also, in Angel/Angelic Reiki, symbols are not used actively by the practitioner. If they are used, it is via the angels or ascended masters invoked at the start of the healing session. The trust is complete. So, for instance, a flower essence may also come through, or a particular crystal, along with any angels and/or ascended masters.

The Three Parts of the Angel/Angelic Reiki Session

  • Prayer
  • Healing
  • Closing

Prayer

It is important to note that the session begins with the practitioner clearing and dedicating the space before the client even enters the room. This means that the client walks into a room already infused by the presence of the Angelic Kingdom of Light.

The prayer part of the session is where the client shares what brought them to the healing session. This is an opportunity for the client to formulate their thoughts and know themselves more deeply. The practitioner facilitates this deeper inner knowing through active listening and holding a non-judgmental space, infused with angelic light.

Healing

After the client is comfortably situated on the healing couch, the practitioner places the left hand about two inches over the higher heart chakra (seat of the soul) and the right hand over the solar plexus chakra (seat of the personality). The energy flowing through the practitioner is that of the Angelic Kingdom of Light. The practitioner merely observes. It makes no difference if the client and practitioner are in the same room as healing energy is not confined by space-time boundaries.

Closing

After the healing session, the client has an opportunity to share their experience. This is not a time when the healer offers a psychic reading. However, whatever the healer received from the angelic realm during the healing, can act as prompts for further enquiry. Any questions by the practitioner seek to empower the client. Again, active listening and holding space are the main components. So is important that the client understands that they have booked a healing session and not a psychic reading.

The Four Levels of Angel Reiki

Before a person become an Angel/Angelic Reiki Practitioner, they receive four attunements or initiations directly from the Angelic Kingdom of Light. These attunements do not necessarily lead to the student becoming a practitioner. The aim is self-mastery.

Levels 1 & 2

  • Level 1 – Initiate: Facilitates an opening of your latent energy channel by clearing and attuning your chakras so that you can channel angelic light for yourself and others, mainly on the physical level (Cho Ku Rei)
  • Level 2 – Apprentice: Balances mental/emotional energy and allows for more angelic light to flow through (Sei He Ki)

The first two levels are usually taught together.

Levels 3 & 4

  • Levels 3 & 4 – Inner Mastery: These two levels are usually taught together and there is not a whole lot of difference between the two. In the Angel Reiki Course online, the distance symbol (Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen) comes with Level 3. There is no additional symbol for Level 4. So it is not clear to me when or how to use the Master Symbol (Dai Ko Myu) in the original Angelic Reiki System.

What is clear is that the calling to become a practitioner has to come directly from within. For me, this happened about a year and four months after initiation into all four levels. By then, I had been connecting closely with Archangel Jophiel for about three months. It came as no surprise for me to find out that Kevin Core is an aspect of Archangel Jophiel in Spirit. I actually do feel guided by him, as well as by the angels now that I have received my calling.

Equally, becoming a Master Teacher is an organic process. You will know you are ready when people start asking you to teach.

In addition to the traditional Reiki Symbols, there are nine additional symbols. Eight chakra symbols correspond to various angels and ascended masters plus Raku.

Death & Dying – End of Life Angel Reiki

As someone who has studied End of Life Care, one of the things I love the most about Angel/Angelic Reiki is the emphasis on preparation for a good death. The disease is not always seen as something that has to be fixed. This stems in part from Kevin Core dying from throat cancer only a few years after founding Angelic Reiki. But even before that, he devoted no small amount of study to this subject. Death and dying, I find, are often ignored by the New Age community. The Angelic Reiki book by Christine Core discusses not only the process of dying but what happens after and how we can prepare for that.

The Evolution of Angel/Angelic Reiki

Simply from studying Angel Reiki which can be seen as an off-shoot of Angelic Reiki, it is clear that angelic forms of Reiki are not stagnant. The original system by Kevin Core continues to evolve. The same thing happened with the original form of Reiki channelled by Mikao Usui at the start of the 20th century. There are now hundreds of Westernised forms of Reiki, most of which stem from Takata’s teachings. There is also the original Japanese form, Jikiden Reiki.

This is wonderful news for healers seeking a modality that is a perfect match for them until they are ready to evolve and start teaching their own system, either continuing a lineage or forming a brand new lineage. Whether the Universe or the Angelic Kingdom of Light attunes us directly, we will continue to need teachers and guides on our journey. In the Tarot, the card that represents this need is The Hierophant.
