A while back, I created a deck interview spread which I have been using on the blog lately. I thought it about time to post a diagram of the spread itself for those of you who like to print spreads out.
Tarot deck interview spread – positional meanings:
1. Describe yourself in three words
2. How would your best friend describe you using only three words
3. What gift do you bring?
4. What do you expect in return?
5. How can you help me serve?
6. Is there anything else you would like to tell me about yourself?
And here is a sample interview with the Modern Medieval Tarot:
Deck Interview with the Modern Medieval Tarot
1. Describe yourself in three words
MM: Three words… Loving, kind and gentle (Ace of Cups)
2. How would your best friend describe you using only three words
MM: I suspect my closest friend would say: ‘Hard task master’ (10 of Staves/Wands)
Me: OK, I’m confused… How do those two go hand in hand and can they both be true?
MM: Oh, they’re both true alright. Think about it; You have the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Pisces… If that is possible then so are my answers.
Me: Actually, that makes perfect sense!
3. What gift do you bring?
MM: The gift I bring is one of helping you to time things right and to not miss any valuable opportunities. I’ll encourage you to go for it all the way! (Wheel of Fortune)
4. What do you expect in return?
MM: What I expect from you in return is to be brave. (Strength)
Me: I’ll certainly try. I already feel that I can trust you to give me the insights I need to move forward even though we’ve only known each other for a couple of weeks.
5. How can you help me serve?
MM: Good, good (Smiles at me with piercing eyes) The reason why you and I are such a perfect match is because I’m a valuable tool of transformation for where you are on your path of service. I give you straight answers. Without holding punches, I still allow you to retain hope and a connection with your guiding star. I can help you navigate the vast seas of emotions so that you don’t get pulled under. Nor will I allow you to stagnate. New perspectives and ‘aha’ moments will be gained with every reading. You will be asked to act on the information you receive. (8 of Cups)
6. Is there anything else you would like to tell me about yourself?
MM: Yeah, I’m a bit like that vessel – keeping you safe until you reach land. (6 of Swords)
Me: Excellent! I really enjoy working with you and look forward to it all!
