The Difference Between a Psychic and a Prophet

psychic vs prophet

Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honour except in his hometown and in his household.”
Matthew 13:57

The word prophet stood out for me this morning. I’ve been thinking a lot about the prophetic dimension of the faith lately. Last night, I was listening to David Diga Hernandez talk about 9 signs that you are prophetic.

He says a lot of great things in this video and I have yet to finish watching it but it really got me thinking. You see, I have experienced all of the signs he has mentioned so far (7 out of 9).

This made me want to look into if anybody had made a video about the difference between a psychic and a prophet. Sure enough!

As someone who used to work as a psychic and a Tarot reader, I agree about most things in this video. However, I feel that he misses an important point. I believe that people who are naturally gifted psychics also have the potential for the gift of prophecy. And I believe this is the very reason they are often hijacked by the dark side.

Test the Spirits

Another thing I have questions about is the purity of the channel when someone prophecies. Just because they are intending to be a pure vessel for the Holy Spirit, does it mean they are always successful?

Since I started listening to preachers and prophets from churches that use the Gifts of the Spirit, I have even heard those preachers and prophets warn against the misuse of the gifts among believers. And, of course, the Bible warns against this too. This is why we are admonished to test the spirits:

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
(1 John 4:1-3)

Did you do a double-take there? I know I did at ‘spirits‘ and ‘every spirit‘ (plural!). Does this mean that some prophetic messages are via the angels? Of course it does. There are many instances of angels appearing to individuals, both in the Old and New Testament.

Mixing Oil and Water

I think that in the past, I had dreams, visions and words from the Holy Spirit and the angels too at times. However, I believe it was mixed in with messages from spirits that did not confess Jesus as coming from God in the flesh (demons, in other words).

The reason I allowed this to happen was that I didn’t live in obedience to God and His Word.

You can’t have prophetic messages on tap and I wanted it on tap, so I engaged whatever spirits were happy to provide the goods.

Sadly, this only led to confusion. And the confusion got even worse when I tried to force what I was doing to fit with the Word of God.

All I can say is, thank God that it is over!

Prophetic from Childhood

Many of the signs that David Diga Hernandez mentions in his video have been with me from childhood. Though nobody nurtured or honoured these gifts. And this is one of the main reasons I eventually turned to the occult and the New Age. I believe this is true of all genuine psychics out there. I’m not using this as an excuse for my own disobedience, by the way.

If you are a psychic reading this, please know that God is moving to transform and liberate you. A mass awakening among psychics has already begun and it will snowball in 2023. God is setting us free from the Jezebel spirit, the spirit of Leviathan and the spirit of Python. The scales are falling from our eyes. Hearts will be on fire for Jesus!

The prophets are coming out of their caves–Alleluia!
