54. Nithael – 10 of Wands

Nithael Noh-Yoh-Tah

Shem Angel 54 Nithael is the Shem HaMemphorash whose name means ‘God the King of Heaven’ or ‘God King of the Heavens.’ The name sounds like Noh-Yoh-Tah. The corresponding Angelic Choir is Principalities (Netzach), under the rulership of Archangel Anael. The Planetary correspondence is Venus and the Element is Fire. The associated gemstone is Ruby. Nithael has masculine energy and is known as the Angel of Eternal Youth.

Youthfulness and vitality are associated with rubies. In ancient times, as in modern times, rubies were rare, expensive and highly treasured. They get several mentions in the Bible and are one of the 12 gemstones on the High Priest’s breastplate.

Nithael rules the time between 5:40 and 6 PM.

Primary (physical) rulership is for 17 – 21 December, covering the final five days of the third decan of Sagittarius. The corresponding Minor Arcana Tarot card for the third decan of Sagittarius is the 10 of Wands. Nanael rules the first quinance (five days) of the same decan. Nithael’s secondary (emotional) rulership covers 2 March, 14 May, 29 July, 11 October and 22 December.

Nithael and the 10 of Wands

I recently came across an interpretation of the 10 of Wands that really makes sense in light of the qualities of Nithael. Comparing the 10 of Wands to the previous card, 9 of Wands, we can look at it as removing the fortifications that keep us suspicious and make us expect the worst of those around us. When we remove those barriers, we can be in touch with our inner child. And once in touch with our inner child, we can afford to show a more vulnerable face to the world. We become open to what is and that is something that then helps perpetuate our youthfulness.

However, this Saturn in Sagittarius card definitely also relates to ageing and the ability to age gracefully with much physical youthfulness and mental agility still intact. Nithael can ease the oppressive quality of the 10 of Wands that make us feel weaker as we grow older. How? He reminds us to allow Spirit to renew our strength.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:31

Nithael and the 10 of Wands both encourage us to persevere through difficult tasks that matter for the Highest Good and to stop sweating the small stuff. If something isn’t really bringing glory to God but is getting us down, we have permission to drop the load.

Weaknesses that Nithael Can Transform

  • People-pleasing
  • Sweating the small stuff
  • Too proud to ask for help

Use the Noh-Yoh-Tah Mantra to…

…age gracefully and with a youthful spirit. Nithael can help us overcome the fear of ageing. He can also put us in touch with people who can help our career and get our work out into the world.

Nithael can help us persevere. Chant Noh-Yoh-Tah if you doubt your ability to complete an important project. Nithael can take us all the way from vision to completion.

Finally, Nithael can help us preserve a sense of stability when the world seems to be descending into chaos. That sounds pretty good right about now, wouldn’t you agree?

  1. I’m a little late replying to this post but I’ve had the “flu” for the last few days.
This is an angel I can utilize for sure. People pleasing was a big character flaw for me.
I have been getting better in that regard though.
Nithael is my new found friend. He/she is greatly needed in these chaotic times for sure.
I believe the angels are making themselves known to those of us who need stability in an everchanging world.
