Three Ways to Use Tarot and EFT Tapping

In this article, we are going to look at three different ways of using Tarot and EFT together. Firstly, we will look into using EFT to clear any psychic/intuitive blocks as well as blocks around religious programming. Secondly, we will look at a couple of different ways of using EFT together with the Tarot when reading for yourself or for clients. Finally, we will look at doing readings during an EFT Coaching session.

EFT Tapping for Clearing Psychic Blockages

When we first start our Tarot journey, we soon realise that there is stuff to clear. The Tarot has an uncanny way of making subconscious material make its way to the surface. So in addition to learning card meanings and understanding how symbols communicate with our subconscious mind, we must clear any subconscious blockages that prevent us from using the cards optimally.

These blockages can concern our self-worth, trusting our intuition and our angels/guides, trusting our calling/life purpose and religious programming. The latter can make us afraid of condemnation/eternal hellfire on some level that is not always immediately apparent.

You may think we are done with deconstructing your faith but there could be more layers to uncover. You may need to actively engage in religious trauma recovery. That said, tapping can be an extremely useful tool during a trauma recovery journey as well.

If you are not sure how to do the tapping, please check out this beginner’s guide first. You will also find a FREE downloadable PDF guide at the bottom of this post.

EFT Setup Statements for Self-worth and Confidence

  • Even though I do not always believe that I’m worthy of receiving insights and clarity, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though I lack confidence in my skills as a reader (or in my ability to deliver clear messages), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though I don’t think I’m intuitive (or don’t know how to trust my inner guidance), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though I don’t think anybody wants to pay for my Tarot services (or I don’t know how to attract clients), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Setup Statements for Connecting with Angels and Guides

  • Even though I don’t trust in my connection with other realms (yet), I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though some of the information I received in the past was not accurate, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though I don’t feel worthy of receiving messages from my guides and angels, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though I can’t hear (or see/feel) my angels and guides, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Setup Statements to Clear Religious Programming

  • Even though I still have programmed subconscious fear around doing readings, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though I still get triggered by hellfire and brimstone preaching about Tarot, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though I have been told hundreds of times that reading Tarot cards is evil and this message has been internalised in some ways that I may not even be aware of, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
  • Even though I sometimes get so triggered that I can’t read the cards, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Turning the Negative into a Positive

When you do your final round of tapping on the negative reminder statement, I suggest adding a question, such as ‘Maybe this is not true. Maybe I can trust my intuition. I’m human and all humans are deeply intuitive. Maybe I just need to let go of my blockages’ etc.

Then you do at least three rounds to tap in the positive. For the example about intuition above, you may wish to use reminder statements such as ‘I am deeply intuitive’ or ‘Intuitive messages flow to me all the time’ and ‘I always honour the intuitive messages I receive.’ It’s good to use your own words for this. Because the wording that resonates with you will have the deepest impact on your subconscious mind.

Please note that you do not need to do a setup statement between negative and positive rounds.

A Note about Trauma Recovery

As someone who was misdiagnosed in the past and therefore didn’t receive timely or comprehensive trauma recovery help from trained medical professionals, I know how hard it can be to trust that you will get the right help. However, the medical profession on the whole is more clued in about CPTSD, RTS and trauma recovery these days.

Chances are that you can find someone specialised in this type of care if that is what you suspect you need. You do not have to do it all by yourself. Trauma recovery with EFT and Tarot is not a replacement for proper medical treatment. Please seek help. You deserve support.

Using EFT Tapping during Tarot Readings

The first and most obvious way of using EFT during a reading is with your daily draw. This is because if you are new to Tarot, you usually begin your journey by doing a daily draw that you enter into your Tarot journal.

Tapping on Your Daily Draw

So take your time and sit with the card of the day. Allow your inner knowing to guide you to what the meaning might be for the day ahead. Is there resistance and emotional charge? Then give it a SUDS scale number and tap on it! You can enter the SUDS scale number in your Tarot journal before and after tapping.

When I tap on the daily draw, I don’t always do a setup statement. I do something more akin to Faster EFT ask originated by Robert Gene Smith. I call it Turbo Tapping and you can view my method in this video on Facebook. If you try some Turbo Tapping with your daily draw, I’d love to hear how you get on. Let me know in the comments!

Tapping on the Challenge/Opposition Card

Many Tarot spreads have a card that signifies the challenge or opposition to the issue you are enquiring about. This card can easily give rise to an emotional charge. Again, take the SUDS scale number and start tapping!

Tapping on the Outcome

Personally, I steer clear of readings that give a fixed outcome (the future is not set in stone). But if you allow for a possible or likely outcome, you may still get an outcome that you don’t like the look of. In my experience, this can give rise to an emotional charge even if you have told yourself beforehand that it is just one possible outcome. So tap on it. Then ask your guides/angels to show you a future timeline that is better in terms of the Highest Good.

It is important to activate your preferred timeline once you decide you are happy with it. The best way to activate the timeline is to state it out loud. Then you determine what action(s) to take and set some SMART goals.

  1. Specific: target a particular area for improvement
  2. Measurable: quantify progress metrics (this is how you will know that you achieved your goal)
  3. Achievable: ensure you can achieve your goals with the given resources
  4. Realistic: outline what results you can reasonably achieve using the available resources
  5. Timely: decide by when your goal should be achieved

Reading and Tapping for Others

All of the guidance above applies to when you read for others as well. Just make sure that the other person is on board with potentially using tapping before you begin your session and also that they are well-hydrated before you begin.

You may wish to brief them on how tapping is essentially psychological acupressure along the meridian points. And perhaps add that it is an energy-healing modality that can release energetic blockages caused by trauma or other negative past events.

If you are reading in a professional capacity, please check local legislation for what level of certification and insurance coverage are needed.

Always close a session with a client by offering them a glass of water or advising them to drink a glass of water if the session is done via a Skype or Zoom call. That’s because toxins will begin to flush out of the body after the client releases the emotional charge.

Tarot Readings During an EFT Coaching Session

Your imagination is the limit for how to use the Tarot cards in empowering ways during a professional EFT Coaching session. However, please check if using cards is okay with your client first. Not everybody is open to or comfortable with working with divinatory tools. This may be equally true of atheists as of people with strict religious backgrounds.

When the Client Doesn’t Know Why They Are Blocked

Let’s say you have a client who comes to you because they basically feel like they are stuck in the mud. This is affecting multiple areas of their lives. They have no idea why they can’t move forward and wouldn’t even know where to begin.

This is the perfect time to open the session with some Tarot counselling. Start as you normally would, by interviewing your client. Listen carefully. Then pull a card and look at it together with your client. Ask, ‘What does this remind you of that you have already mentioned?’

You can use some probing questions from there. It most likely won’t take long to find what to tap on after that. That’s because this way of using the cards primes the client’s own intuitive pump.

When the Emotional Charge Isn’t Released

Let’s say you have tapped a few rounds but the client isn’t moving down the SUDS scale by much or at all. There may be a deeper subconscious layer you can tap on. Have your client pull a random card or choose a relevant card face up. Ask what they see and how it relates to their issue. Listening and asking questions is more empowering than telling them the standard meanings.

If they are stumped about the meaning of the card for them, you can provide some traditional meanings but it is more effective to let the image do the talking first. If you provide meanings for the card, do so by asking which of those meanings feels relevant to them. You can always pull more cards if you haven’t arrived at a deeper layer to tap on.

At the End of the Session

At the end of a session where the client has successfully released the emotional charge around the issue, you can do an action guidance reading. Coaching, after all, is about getting your client to take action. Perhaps they already know what action to take but just need to tweak it a bit. Or maybe they need more extensive guidance.

Again, it is more empowering if you present the cards in a way that allows the client to reach his or her own conclusions.

I hope you find this guide on how to use Tarot and EFT Tapping helpful. I’m sure you can tap into more intuitive ways of using the Tarot together with EFT. Feel free to share what you come up with and please let me know if you have any questions.
