The Star Tarot 2nd Edition Review and Deck Interview

This is the first time I’ve reviewed the same Tarot deck twice. Some of you may recall the review for the first edition. The Star Tarot was a highly anticipated deck for me. I had been fortunate enough to own the limited edition only Major Arcana Tarot deck. The full 78-card deck was everything I hoped it would be from an artistic point of view but the production did let the deck down. The cards were overly glossy and had massive borders. The second edition turns out to be everything I hoped the first edition of the Star Tarot would be, included gilded edges. Yes, I do love a bit of bling!

In the video below, you can see all 78 cards. I also show the card backs and the gilded edges.

Now there is nothing I don’t absolutely love about this deck. In fact, it feels so precious to me that I’m almost reluctant to use it, the same way you might feel reluctant to bring out your best China for an ordinary meal. This feeling is probably strengthened due to my big Dark Night of the Soul purge last year when I threw out 200+ Tarot and oracle card decks. Unfortunately, the very rare and collectible Majors only Star Tarot landed in the recycling skip. (Gasp! I know!!)

This deck is my all-time favourite deck but I also love and highly recommend the companion book. It contains astrological/lunar and angelic correspondences (not always the Golden Dawn ones). Each card is described in-depth. There are also descriptions for each of the Majors relating to your Birth and Year Cards. At the very end of the book, there is an interesting ‘Destiny Spread’ to help you navigate your spiritual path.

All this said, I can’t wait for the deck to speak… How will we get along this time around?
