Shine Your Inner Light! Life Purpose Tarot Spread

shine your inner light

Our happiness entirely depends upon a correct estimate of the value of life.
– Mohini M. Chatterji

Do you walk the path of your Life Purpose already? Congratulations – you don’t need to read this article! For the rest of you, my prayer is that this will nourish your heart, mind, gut and soul to begin taking the right steps on that Path. But be prepared: You will have to start working immediately and your first task is to tune into your own intuitive guidance with a bit of help from the Tarot.

It might not be a bad idea to pause now and say a little prayer before we continue:

Dear _________ (name your deity/angel), help me be fully present and in the body so that I may connect with my heart’s desire right here, right now. Bind any excuses and kick my butt in gear. I acknowledge that the time for action is now and I hold myself accountable. Only I am responsible for fulfilling my destiny and I’m tired of all my bullshit excuses so please help me rise today, like the phoenix from the ashes – a new creation, empowered by passion and brightly shining my light. Amen/So mote it be!

This is the kind of spread that will help you start doing the thing that you would no doubt start doing if you knew you only had one year left to live and realised that you wanted to be remembered for that one thing you haven’t quite gotten around to doing yet… because you know, your dad might disapprove or the other mums at school might talk behind your back. Tchea, right! You’re scared shitless and that is the real reason why you’re not doing it already!

So buckle down if you are ready to face those fears and see what divine inspiration will flow from the cards today…

Shine Your Inner Light – Life Purpose Tarot Spread

Shine Your Inner Light Life Purpose Tarot Spread
  1. How can I drop from my head to my heart? This card tells you how to connect with your passion. You are never going to find that passion by overthinking your choices and options. That One Thing in your heart has always been there. It will be something you absolutely adored spending your time doing as a kid and perhaps stopped doing because a throwaway comment made you feel you were not good enough. So you cut the line to the heart… Well, it’s time to mend it. This card shows you how.
  2. How do I put myself in a state of flow? This is the cognitive principle behind the ‘One Thing.’ Once you have identified it, you can easily apply it to other Things. Because you are not here to do just One Thing – You are here to do a multitude of things and to possibly hold a multitude of titles. It’s not about the label and all about you being in a state of flow. And if you’re not sure what it’s like to be in a state of flow, forgetting to eat and go to the loo are pretty good measures. It means that time and other stuff have ceased to be important to you.
  3. How can I embarrass myself good and proper? This involves going out and doing that One Thing. Yes, it will take courage because you will have to make yourself vulnerable. All those faces and voices that shamed you into becoming something you are clearly not will start reappearing in your mind’s eye. Arm yourself and learn to laugh when you trip and fall over. Anyone who ever succeed at anything did so because they made more mistakes and learned from them than anyone else.
  4. How can I save the world? This shows you how being connected to your Life Purpose will benefit others in practical ways. You can’t be all things to all people but doing what you came here to do as if you mean it will begin to improve conditions on Earth for everyone because you are finally living from your heart. Heart-centred living spreads positive vibes from your heart to the heart of the cosmos, touching everything and everyone with light along the way.

“Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.”
― Theodore Roosevelt

You may wish to do this all in one go, or you may wish to pull one card a week/day to meditate on and journal it carefully. It was actually the advent candle holder that inspired this spread for me, so pulling one card for each advent candle seems like a nifty idea. Either way, I hope you enjoy connecting more deeply with your Life Purpose this way and that you do at least one thing to embarrass yourself properly today! 🙂

Love and Blessings,

Lisa

  1. Could one just pick a card to determine what it is one ought to do? I spent most of my childhood just trying to survive so there wasn’t much time to think about what I wanted to do as a grownup. I”escaped” into books – I know there must be a desire somewhere in me. Could it be as simple as just pulling a card?

  2. Got the 4 of cups and 7 of swords for cards 3 and 4 respectively (9 of pentacles and Knight of Wands for cards 1 and 2, respectively). So I understand cards 1 and 2, but I’m a bit flumaxed about 3 and 4 – Thanks Lisa!! As always, very useful!!

You’re not ready to read on positions 3 and 4 yet. Your other comment tells me this too… You have to connect with your passion first… It has to come from within. It is an organic process. You can’t force it and you’re not ready to take it out in the world yet (position 3).

  3. Love the advent candles, nice touch! I decided to use 3 decks for this spread: Archangel Power, Archangel Oracle and Life Purpose Oracle. The additional details provided by the oracle decks were so in synch and provided helpful extra advice. Thanks for another great spread!

Thanks for sharing, Susan, and glad you enjoyed this spread. Yes, combining Tarot and Oracle cards would work very well for this type of reading. Blessings
