Say what you will about 2016 but there has been many moments that will live in memory forever. Time is precious… Death can come at any time and for many people in the public eye it did. Those of you who have been hanging around on the blog or on the Angelorum FB Page will know by now that 2016 was a personal XIII Death Year for me (here’s where you can find your card for 2017).
I’ve spent some time contemplating my own finite existence on earth this year and have come to the conclusion that Paulo Coelho was absolutely right when he said:
“Don’t waste your time with explanations: people only hear what they want to hear.”
This is particularly true in our post-truth era where people spend most of their time in well-insulated social media echo chambers.
Next year, I hope to make more productive use on my time and to move forward with greater ease rather than pausing to battle windmills along the way. My focus word for 2016 was ‘integrity,’ so some of the battles were unavoidable… but yes, I can certainly learn to pick my battles more wisely, which is one of the reasons I have chosen ‘ease’ as my focus word for 2017. I aim to keep surrendering to the Higher Power I like to call ‘God’ (terribly old-fashioned, I know!) instead of insisting on making my point of view heard at every opportunity.
Hopefully, some of the posts I produced this year will continue to be useful to people. Here is a pick of 20 of the most popular posts published on the Angelorum blog in 2016…
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has been kind enough to not only stop by the blog and read but also like, comment and share my posts this year. Without you, there would be no blog.
Often, it is the little things we do for others that matter the most…
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
