We’re doing things a bit different to the regular Gospel and Tarot meditation for the week ahead. I blame the Tarot de la Bonne Mère for this change in programming. Since working with this gorgeous saints-themed deck, I have completely fallen in love with it. (You can check out my review of the Tarot de la Bonne Mère HERE.)
The Tarot de la Bonne Mère is actually taking on the role of a ‘Good Mother’ (Bonne Mère in French) more and more in my life and I usually do a 1-3 card pull with this deck before falling asleep at night – a very comforting practice in these turbulent times.
So today, rather than pulling a Gospel-themed card + a Tarot card, we are doing a three-card reading for a Spirit-guided message from the Good Mother. And here we have the 2 of Hosts (2 of Pentacles), Knight of Hosts (Knight of Pentacles) and Servant of Pilgrimages (Page of Wands).
This week, then, is very much about finding the right work-lifebalance. The hard-working Knight of Pentacles needs a break as things ramp up before Christmas and the Page of Wands suggests that we would do well to find a playful way of giving ourselves this break. The 2 of Pentacles can indicate more stress than usual – no surprise this close to Christmas!
Saint Bernadette – Servant of Pilgrimages
From a spiritual point of view, we can do a lot worse than seeking to be more like Saint Bernadette of Lourdes who is pictured in the Servant of Pilgrimages card. Her childlike innocence is what allowed her to experience the miracle at Lourdes. To be like her is to ‘marvel at the world.’
St Bernadette of Lourdes can also help us persevere when we do have to crack on with our work in the week ahead. She herself had to persevere in her faith against those who didn’t believe in her visions of the Lady and she also had to persevere in spite of physical frailty. Our Good Mother helps us do all of the above with good cheer.
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.Hebrews 12:1-2
Please note that there will be no more week ahead readings now until next year. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
